Casa Mono and its sister restaurant, Bar Jamon, are located next to each other on Irving Place and 17th Street, just east of Union Square. Awarded three stars from The New York Times in 2015 and a Michelin Star in 2009 (and every year since), Casa Mono is a tapas bar restaurant inspired by the cooking of Spain’s Costa Brava.

    The sommelier was great! After we decided on food, she created a complementary set of pairings based on our preferences. I appreciated how well everything was coursed. The goat was our favorite dish! And the bread pudding was a fantastic end.

    Good food and a great ambiance made for a nice evening, but the service fell short. After taking our order and bringing the wine bottle, the waiter never returned to pour more or check on us. No one asked how our food was or if we needed anything else until dessert.

    Food was delicious. Wine was great! The vibe of the restaurant was cozy but festive. My favorite was the crudo and skirt steak. My husband’s favorite was the scallops and the burrata and squash. All was delicious. The service was attentive and fast but not rushing. Overall would totally recommend.
