Focusing predominately on fresh local seafood with a French, Lowcountry flare, Charlie’s is the place for good food, good wine and unforgettable memories all enjoyed in a quaint French country atmosphere.

A Savannah native, Charlie Golson’s interest in the French language and culture took him to Paris. After a long stint in the fast paced hotel kitchens of Washington DC, he was ready to move back closer to home. It was at that time he was able to open up a one room French bistro. The restaurant has grown over the years, but the ‘Green Star’ remains steadfast in offering the finest ingredients the Low country has to offer with a menu that is hand written daily. Resort Casual.

Excellent food and our waiter was so attentive. It was my daughter’s 30th. She really enjoyed it. The peppermint cheese cake was so good I ordered one for New Year’s Eve

Our favorite place on Mondays. Lunch or dinner, there is always an excellent choice of seafood, great ambiance and our server Scott is always outstanding! Love Charlie’s!

We were somewhat disappointed with the food at Charlie’s. We both had snail appetizers which were fine- no different from any other restaurant that serves snails. For main dishes my wife had scallops which she liked. I had seared tuna which was prepared OK but it was very tough and difficult to eat. I was taken aback by the huge thickness which may been the reason for toughness. For dessert I had bread pudding which was dry and only average. Service was fine.

Service was excellent, food fair, fish was salty and the sides seemed like they were leftovers just warmed up. Very disappointing considering the reviews.

Bar service was wonderful, pate was delicious, but in the dining room the scallops were delicious, the duck was very disappointing-“grisly “ and not very good, so I ate very little of it. Delicious scalloped potatoes. Won’t rush to go back except for happy hour.

Salad was good but overdressed. Fruit garnish with dessert was well past its prime. Appetizer and mains very good and knowledgeable help from staff re making menu suggestions. Slow on getting bill.
