Focusing predominately on fresh local seafood with a French, Lowcountry flare, Charlie’s is the place for good food, good wine and unforgettable memories all enjoyed in a quaint French country atmosphere.

A Savannah native, Charlie Golson’s interest in the French language and culture took him to Paris. After a long stint in the fast paced hotel kitchens of Washington DC, he was ready to move back closer to home. It was at that time he was able to open up a one room French bistro. The restaurant has grown over the years, but the ‘Green Star’ remains steadfast in offering the finest ingredients the Low country has to offer with a menu that is hand written daily. Resort Casual.

Charlie's has been consistently good since we started going there some years ago. We went there for our anniversary dinner last night and had a lovely evening. The staff and management were very helpful and the only reason I am not going with 5 stars all the way, is because the desert menu was like all desert menus these days: nothing hot except bread and butter pudding, maybe the creme brûlée. It's so hard these days to find a restaurant that actually makes deserts like Grand Marnier Soufflé's with a creme Anglaise, or crepes suzette or anything that involves any preparation at all and is not served with whipped cream out of a can. Besides that, my wife had very nice Swordfish and I had the breast of duck and we enjoyed them with an unusual Chenin Blanc called Love from the Loire coastal region. The orange mousse in a chocolate cup was as expected and we could have given it a miss.

Charlie’s dining room provides a very comfortable ambience. The food is very well prepared, and the service is excellent. Jody is a very attentive server and enhanced our dining experience.

Nice atmosphere, superb service. The food was delicious. Very specific menu with variety. Best Filet I have had from a restaurant recently. Would highly recommend.

Our “go to” restaurant everytime we visit HHI! We had the scallops and sheepshead fish. Both were fantastic! Jody, was very helpful with the menu and the wine selection (Fr. Burgundy). The service was “spot on”! Each entree was served timely but did not feel rushed. A very quiet and comfortable atmosphere.
