   This was our first time at this restaurant. Driving up to it was a little deceiving to where it was because there were boats everywhere with signs for boats for sale. I knew they also sold boats but it seemed to be more about that then the restaurant. The parking lot is a little chaotic with no lanes marked. People just kind of parked wherever trying to create lanes. Even though I had a reservation there seemed to be some confusion we were coming even though I called a week in advance to confirm the reservation and add 3 more people. Eventually they sat us at a table not big enough for our group. We have 8 people and table was designed for 6. The emphasis seemed to be on drinks then eating. As soon as the waitress walked up she stated "what are we drinking?". The food is quite pricey for what you actually get. The presentation was well done but the taste was bland. Many members in our group ordered the brisket burger. It was a very small burger that you can tell was not hand pattied by the restaurant. Not worth the price at all. My fiance ordered chips with his burger but got fries. Another member in our group ordered nachos with peppers but they forgot the peppers. It took telling two people to get them. Another member ordered a rice bowl and it took a very long time to come. Our waitress kept telling us its coming and eventually comped it without us asking which was sweet of her. Everyone else already had their food mostly ate by the time it came. I got the lobster roll because on the window going in it states "award winning lobster roll". It was just lobster on chopped lettice - no mayo, no seasoning, nothing else. It was not an actual lobster roll at all. They need to go to New England to see what a real lobster roll is. The mixed drinks were bland and not very good at all. My fiance said the strawberry daiquiri tasted like red ice with alcohol in it. The saving grace was the atmosphere. Its a beautiful location.

   I made a reservation for dinner expecting to have the full menu to choose from and when i got there it was a shortened menu. I wish that i knew this was going to happen. I wouldn’t have came or i would’ve made my reservation earlier. I was very surprised by the lobster roll. it was quite fishy which should not be the taste when having lobster. The service was not the best either no silver ware or napkins when food came twice. She only had noticed after she walked past twice but at that point the kitchen had already brought us silverware. I am extremely dissatisfied with Charlys which is very unfortunate because the atmosphere was great.

   Charly’s is a cute place to go on a nice day. Their margaritas are good and their beers are cold. There is lots of outdoor games and seating, they also have a small room with arcade games. The burgers are great and the fries get the job done. The water glasses on table still had towel fuzz in them and the waitress seemed annoyed when we looked at the glasses before she poured water in. The pizza isn’t worth the price, the crust resembles something from kids lunchable. The orange crush was pretty bland. On the bright side, if your order gets messed up you get 2 free chocolate cookies to make up for having to order and pay for a whole new meal because the one you initially ordered was bad.

   Cool bar and restaurant tucked away on the water in Essex….great location for outside dining although we ate here on NYE, so we were inside. The NYE menu was more sophisticated than their regular one, but the chef was very accommodating by preparing a burger and fries for my daughter and chicken tenders with mac and cheese for my son (both from regular menu) while I had the sea bass and my wife the scallops. The food was excellent and they also have a very good cocktail selection, including offering top shelf bourbons and liquors. We’ll be coming back in the near future.

   Amazing staff! Beautiful setting. Cozy and fun for cool fall evening….but I can see all seasons being so perfect here. They had live music that was wonderful. Food and drinks delicious! All the stars. Will definitely be back!

   This isca spectacular place for a nice autumn afternoon. The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere are all great. The only thing I would improve would be to add more entrees.

    I recently dined at Charly's, and I have to say, it was a great experience! The Cream of Crab Soup was a highlight—perfectly balanced, not too thick or thin, with delicious lumps of crabmeat and a hint of sherry that added a nice depth of flavor. I also tried the Crab Pretzel, which was absolutely delicious. It was soft and gooey, topped with plenty of fresh crab meat. It’s comfort food at its finest! The Lobster Roll was another winner. It was warm and buttery, and the portion of lobster was incredibly generous. Every bite was full of succulent lobster goodness. I also loved the Ahi Tuna Wrap with ginger. The ginger gave it a nice kick, and the focaccia bread tasted like it was freshly made. Overall, the food at Charly's was fantastic, and I left feeling very satisfied. Kudos to the chef for crafting such delicious dishes! I can't wait to come back and try more.
