   We had dinner at the bar. Tom, the bartender is great: personable, smart, makes a great Manhattan. I had a delicious vegetarian meal. My husband had steak with sides. The food was so good. And we like to sit at bars.

   Our waiter was amazing! John V. deserves recognition, he took the time to explain dishes, the specials and even went into detail on oysters, what comes with them, and how the sauces incorporate into eating the oysters. It was my first time eating one and I’m glad it was with John’s explanations. The experience was top notch. A friend of mine and I were there celebrating my birthday, we shared the chive trio for an appetizer, I have to say the cold smoked salmon hit another level!!! The crab cake was pretty good along with the wontons. For the entree, I had the beef cheeks and oh my were those amazing too. Granted I could only consume half my entree from being full, John was able to get the remainder boxed up so I could take it home. The only thing I do have to say that was a down fall, was when making a reservation, the website allowed you to pick a time up to 8:45 pm (15 minutes before it says they close) and closing time is at 9pm. However, that night we went they were still very busy at 9 pm. We did take our time eating and left the restaurant around 9:30/9:45 pm.

   I do wish that restaurants would instruct servers to provide the prices of specials which aren't on the menu. It can be a bit embarrassing to ask for the prices when you're with other people, but it certainly is a relevant item for many folks.

   Another fantastic dinner at Chives. The service was as good as it always is. The secials were explained well. The pace of the meal was perfect, and our server, Carlton, suggested an excellent wine to go with a very heart and flavorful lamb stew special. The food put out by the culinary team is consistently creative and well presented, and the service makes you feel like a special guest and old friend. Chives remains our go-to restaurant for all of our special occasions and great dining out experiences.

    Chives in Baileys Harbor is our favorite go-to place for dining. The service is excellent and the food always delicious.
