Coal Cellar + Grill, Hilton Adelaide’s signature restaurant, is at the height of dining sophistication in the heart of the city.

With a focus on South Australian produce, the modern grill menu is a food and wine enthusiast’s playground! The menu has a balance of seafood, vegetarian and meat dishes including the show-stopping signature tomahawk steak – served with grilled vegetables and a selection of homemade sauces.

Complement your meal with a wine from the impressive glass-encased cellar, home to over 500 wine labels including bold Shiraz’s from the world famous Barossa Valley to crisp Clare Valley Rieslings!

Unique to Coal Cellar + Grill are three private dining rooms which surround the restaurant. These rooms are perfect for small private dinners to cocktail functions or working meetings.

The Lobby Lounge is the perfect setting for pre or post dinner drinks, a relaxing coffee, tapas and cocktails.

Our pre-theatre dining experience is available Monday to Sunday from 5:30pm to 6:30pm for only $59 per person. Up to 9 guests Please present your tickets on arrival Choose an entrée and main or main and dessert from a selection of mouth-watering dishes freshly prepared by our skilled chefs using only the finest ingredients. Whether you’re craving a juicy steak, succulent seafood, or a hearty vegetarian dish – we have something to tantalise your taste buds. Indulge in your meal and still have plenty of time to make it to your show! Our location is within walking distance of Her Majesty's Theatre, making it the perfect spot for a pre-theatre dinner.

    Almost 3 hours of enjoying great food and ambiance must have been wonderful. Even though the tomahawk steak was slightly more cooked than expected, it’s great that the texture and taste were still spot on—especially with that béarnaise sauce! Limoncello tiramisu and crème brûlée both sound like the perfect sweet ending to the meal. We will be back again!

    My wife and I were very happy with the Coal Cellar & Grill. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. i would recommend the Coal Cellar& Grill to anyone that wants good food and a good night out regards Brian &Jodie

    The food was excellent. Location is good, ambiance is good. Branch seating at our table was uncomfortable for 2 of our guests. A couple of requested/ordered items never arrived. Overall a great dining experience.

    Beautiful entrees, lovely scallops and the pork belly was delicious ! Steaks for main were beautiful, chips and brocolini both very nice. Lovely Gravy, very yummy creme brulee ! Amazing SA wine list. The wine room was spectacular. Found a Tolpuddle pinot which was to die for! Not a cheap wine but worth it. Amazing service. Would love to come back again! Highly recommend. A hidden gem in Adelaide. Great atmosphere.

    Food was incredible, service was friendly. If anything, drink service was a bit slow but they seemed understaffed for the amount of people there so hard to know. Would definitely go again though. Great value for nice food in the current climate, was not hungry in any way after leaving. I may still be full tomorrow.

    We had the most wonderful evening. Wine glasses were always topped up, steak was perfection and all our questions were answered. Would go again and definitely recommend.
