I had the Miso Salmon which was outstanding! The overall experience was like being in a lovely Bistro in France.

Nothing special. The host sat us at a very small table while the restaurant was 90% empty. The food was less than okay—not the correct meat temperature, very little salt and seasoning. Given the prices, it was a very bad deal. We spent close to $400z Service was mostly inattentive, we had to keep waving to get service. The waiter was friendly, though.

My scallops tasted fishy so I had to return. Restaurant deducted from the bell which was the right thing to do. Everyone else’s dinner was delicious. Would highly recommend.

The restaurant itself is lovely. The reception was a bit brusque: just a wave in the direction of the two members of my party who’d already arrived. But the wait staff was excellent. The food seems to me just middling: my duck was a bit over cooked and not especially flavorful; calamari was ok. There’s a bit of a mismatch between the fairly high prices and the food.

It was my girlfriend’s 77th birthday and I wanted so take her to dinner at someplace near our Upper East Side apartment building that had an intimate atmosphere. That place was Cognac. I knew their menu had items she liked to eat, escargot and Duck a l’orange. I like their cheese puffs and goat cheese and tomato tart appetizers and their steak frites entree. Our shared dessert was tarte tatin ala mode with a drizzle of caramel sauce. My girlfriend said we next time we have ordered this dessert for the appetizer and entree courses too. We had our choice of where to sit. I decided a table in the back would be quieter. And one that was under a ceiling light for mood. The waiter and busboy were attentive, deserving of a good tip. We enjoyed our dinner and would return. The only disappointment was that our Open Table reservation indicated it was a birthday occasion. I was expecting a candle in the dessert. Next year I will tell the waiter myself.
