   Would have been 5 stars except for the fact they didn't have bottled apple cider and the cider on tap had run out. Apart from that, it was very good. It had an upmarket vibe, though the food was not at all pretentious. There was a sparkly warm atmosphere - just what was needed on a freezing rainy February evening. The staff were lovely, and apologised (unprompted) as we were leaving for the slightly slow service. The seats were very comfy, the food was delicious, and the toilets were amazing!

   We had a wonderful evening celebrating Valentine's Day at Cogs. We received a very warm welcome and were seated at a table of our choice promptly, despite arriving early for our reservation. The service throughout was exceptional; our waitress was friendly and informative. The food was lovely we had different starters; I had the Thai-style fish cakes, He had the strawberry and beetroot salad. Both were very well-presented and tasty. The main course was a sharing mixed grill, and the variety of meats were cooked perfectly. The dessert was a sharing salted caramel Eton mess and we ate it with gusto, despite being almost full from the previous two courses. Overall, we would both highly recommended Cogs for a celebration meal.

   Perfect service from Daniel and colleagues throughout. Food quality wonderful and the kitchen is open for all to see how clean everything is. This was my second visit in two weeks and I'll definitely be back.

   First time visiting COGS but will not be the last! Good food (big portions - you might want to share a dessert!) Lovely, friendly and attentive service.

   Super efficient and friendly greeting, table as requested, superb service throughout by Afra and Daniel. I had the Fish & Chips, fish was cooked to perfection, beautifully moist in good batter. You can see the kitchen in full operation, beautifully clean and shiny. I will return!

   From the start, the welcoming was not good. Waited a long time for our drinks then got drink that we did not order. One of the drinks had to be returned as it was not nice, and asked for it to be redone. Food was cold when served, no one came to enquiry if everything was ok. Could not get the attention of waiter/ waitress. The waitress that was serving our table had body odour which was not pleasant. And the whole experience was awful, left without having dessert as it was just so disappointing.

   Food was of the highest quality, including dessert. Service could be described as “weird”. A waiter brought over the water and it was like he didn’t want to come near us, no words or eye contact, just dropped the bottle and ran. We asked for a taster of a wine, and the waitress asked if we wanted to order food. We confirmed, and then she walked away. Finally, the empty plates were sat in front of us for a significant amount of time, and the restaurant itself wasn’t especially busy. Would come here again, service was not so bad it ruined the night, but could definitely be improved.

   We have eaten here before and it was excellent but this Christmas dinner was distinctly average. Starters and puddings were rated as good but the Christmas dinner was just about average. Half a carrot, one sprout, half a parsnip. Some distinctly average roast potatoes and 2 slices of a well cooked turkey. Gravy appeared to have been Bisto and the wine list missing our first 2 choices! Shame since previous meal here was excellent. Will give them one more chance but maybe not a Christmas dinner!

   Great surroundings. Food was good. Service ok but a little slow at times. Menu could be more varied and bigger? Price ok but service charge is unacceptable, I would tip my own amount. Asked to be removed from my bill.
