   Great place to eat. From the warm welcome from the staff to the fantastic food that was served. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back.

   Excellent meal - a warm welcome, cracking food, ales and wine My only comment, we always order your delicious selection of Norfolk cheeses for dessert and will ask at commencement of meal so it’s out of the fridge

   My wife and I last visited the Crown and Mitre in March 2024. A year on and quite a bit has changed there- it was very nice in March…but it’s spot on now. The finer details have been honed. We ate upstairs with the river view-as always. The windows have been replaced,as has the old radiator (with air con/climate units)-it was on the ‘cool’ side last time but it’s really,really comfortable now(a massive difference). We opted for the three course meal-and everything from the starter to the dessert was just superb. I cook a lot at home so I suppose it makes me a bit on the ‘fussy’ side, but I really couldn’t fault anything about the food…or the Shiraz.. A big thank you to Will for making us feel welcome(we love the improvements you’ve made to our favourite pub)-but a special thank you to Lydia and Louis who are a real credit to the whole experience at the Crown and Mitre (a place is nothing without the proper staff-and they very much are). We’ve decided that we need to visit more often….so we’ll see you next month ! Jon and Debs

   Booked 3 course express for a show… We were a little late but after 1 hour of waiting we had to leave for the show and only had been served a starter. We won’t return here again. Also very noisy and impossible to talk.

   I booked an express meal for 2, based on the online menu and based on 2 courses for £20. On arrival the express menu had changed and none of the options were liked by either of us. The waiter brought us the normal menu and said that he thought we would still be able to have our 2 courses each for £20 each. We did not ask for this, he raised that possibility. He said he would check. He did so with the manager, within our earshot. The manager’s attitude towards the poor lad was abrupt, abrasive and loud we were very uncomfortable and decided to cut our meal to one course and depart. We did not appreciate the tone used by the manager within our earshot. We also felt that the menu change should have been notified to us prior to the day of the booking, to give us the opportunity to go elsewhere. We ended up paying nearly £50 for a burger and fish and chips. Plus a drink each. We could have gone elsewhere if we had known.

   You arrived miserable, you were miserable when you were here, you were miserable when you left and miserable when you got home to write this review. I presume you are still miserable this morning... The phrase you cannot keep everybody happy really springs to mind. In summary - express menu online states subject to change/example. Entitled customer didn't like choices and wanted other options at the discounted price. Customer didn't like being told no and some words hurt them. Entitled customer thinks we should phone 100 people a day to tell them if something should not be available. Burger and fish & chips = £37 Note to self, in the middle of busy service. next time, sit down waiter, get him a cup of cocoa and a support dog so customer doesn't get upset.

    This is a little gem almost hidden away in a small corner of the town. This is the first time I've visited. The riverview seating area was superbly welcoming, from the lighting to the comfortable feel of the place it was a great experience. The staff were polite and attentive during the experience. The menu was varied with specials available. The best part of the experience came from the chef; in my opinion, this has set a new standard. I'll be back again.
