We visited to celebrate the man’s birthday. We arrived early since we planned to visit a couple of other places afterward. When we got there, it was fairly empty, but it didn’t stay that way for long. The space is really spacious. We dined in the main dining room, and the service was excellent. The host, servers, and manager were all very friendly. For appetizers, we ordered the wagyu pigs in a blanket and pepperoni and sausage pizza. I had a shot of tequila, while the man enjoyed an Old Fashioned and an IPA. The appetizers were delicious. I couldn’t decide if I liked the honey mustard crème sauce that came with the pigs in a blanket, but I definitely enjoyed them without the sauce. For our main dishes, we had the roasted salmon and steak frites. The salmon had a perfectly crispy top layer and was cooked to a perfect medium. It was delicious! It came with butternut squash farro, which I wasn’t sure how I felt about, but it was interesting. The steak frites were flavorful and also cooked to a perfect medium. Very tasty. Unfortunately, we had no room left for dessert. We spent about $190, including the tip. After we paid, we went to check out the rooftop. It was stunning—spacious, with tables and seating perfectly arranged to showcase the beautiful city skyline and lights. We grabbed two more drinks at the bar and soaked in the view, spending another $35 with tip. We would definitely return and plan to opt for rooftop dining next time. Highly recommend!

Made a reservation for the upstairs patio. When we got there they put us in the private room upstairs by ourselves. It was very awkward. We asked to move us as I booked the rooftop, not an indoor room alone, and they made it seem like such an inconvenience. Once moved, service wasn’t great and heaters weren’t warm enough to reach certain tables.

Met friends for lunch for our first visit here and we were all very happy with the food, atmosphere and service! We will definitely return! Didn't go up to the rooftop but I'm sure the view towards downtown would be good. Highly recommend!

This is a neighborhood restaurant for us and we have enjoyed it several times since it opened. We appreciated Joe Wags on this trip who found a way to produce cocktail sauce for one of our party who really wanted it even though it was not on the menu. Thanks, Joe. We will keep coming back.

Thank you so much for feedback Sunita! It was a pleasure meeting you and your guests. I'm so glad the gentlemen enjoyed the cocktail sauce that Chef was able to whip up for them. It looks like we might have missed the mark on some other items and we'd love to hear more about how we can be better for your next visit. We look forward to seeing you here again soon!

Sat on the rooftop patio, on a cool autumn evening overlooking the Dallas skyline and a full moon up above. It was lovely! What's not to love? Our server, Andrea, was amazing! This was our second visit to Culinary Dropout, and it is our new favorite restaurant. All employees have been very friendly and helpful. Food and special cocktails are really good. A really fun place to dine.

Always love coming to CD as I go to the location in Austin a bunch. This was in Design District is a tad different menu but real good. Parkin is lackluster though
Culinary Dropout – DallasResponded on 14 November 2024
Thanks for sharing your feedback Damon. We loved to hear the food was as great here in Dallas as our Austin location. Our menus do differ sometimes especially with seasonal changes but hopefully we always have your favorites available. We're sorry to hear your parking experience was negative. We work diligently with our valet partner to provide great hospitality the second your car comes in the lot. We'd love to hear specific feedback so we can improve the process for your next visit. We look forward to hearing back from you and seeing you here in Dallas soon!

Love the ambiance, good for groups, large bar area and a wonderful rooftop bar that opens at 4pm with a stunning view of downtown Dallas. Parking was an issue, you may have to park on a side street and walk. Our food was hit and miss, nothing that really stood out except the soup.

Amazing dinner! We tried the Steak Frites, the Southern Fried Chicken, and Brussels Sprouts. The steak was tender enough to cut with a butter knife, and the fried chicken was crunchy and crispy! Flavors on everything was great. the Sweater Weather sangria is also really good, you can smell the spices as you’re drinking it. Our server was also great, he was very attentive and knew the menu like a pro. Can’t wait to go back and try other dishes!
