Welcome to the Cliff Hotel in Gorleston-On Sea, a hotel and restaurant with unrivalled views of the Norfolk and Suffolk coast.

The Cliff Hotel dates back to 1890 when the original hotel was opened, in 1915 the building was ravaged by fire and demolished. The old staff accommodation was renovated into a new hotel, the building that we currently occupy today.

We have a vast selection of dining options from our relaxed art-deco inspired MUSE restaurant, our vibrant bar dining area or one of the biggest outside dining terraces in Norfolk.

Wherever you decide to eat our menus will give you a huge variety of choice from fresh fish to steaks and grills. Alternatively we have lighter snacks and a range of classic dishes to delight all tastes.

Why not join us for a traditional Sunday roast or a quintessentially British afternoon tea?

Our food is prepared in our kitchens to ensure the best quality and taste reaches your table.

We look forward to welcoming you.

On arrival at 2:30 on a Sunday, we were told that three choices(skate, risotto and fillet steak) on main menu were not available and the cauliflower cheese accompaniment to roast had all gone. Whilst these things did not spoil our lunch it wasn’t really a great start was it? Also with the brisket being off menu, this removed more choices. Three of us had roast, and one had a smoked combo. All very tasty, and enjoyed by all. Sadly our second round of drinks sat on a tray at the bar and we had to chase these to be brought to our table. Desserts were slightly confusing too, on the menu there was a caramelised choc and hazelnut cheesecake, there was no mention of white chocolate on menu, so when some white cheesecake arrived we questioned this, after some time a young lady arrived and said that she was sorry that it was misleading on the menu, but it should have read caramelised white chocolate. This was clearly nonsense and I’m guessing the choc and hazelnut cheesecake had gone too and we had a redressing of the white choc cheesecake special. Which was ok, but nothing special. We have eaten here before and will probably eat here again, but please try to offer a full choice and be honest with us in the future. The staff were attentive, polite and hardworking, and a joy to be looked after by. Thank you.

Started off fanatic. Great, friendly service and the food came out very quickly. Absolutely delicious. Only downside was when the plates were cleared, we were not asked if we wanted anymore drinks or a desert menu. We were then left a good half an hour with no drinks or anyone coming to see if we wanted a desert. My wife ended up having to ask for a menu at the bar.

Nice and clean, food was nice and we didn’t have to wait long. Table service was ok at the start , but we were then left, no one came to ask if we wanted deserts or anymore drinks. We had to ask ourselves. We then paid and they seemed a bit put off because we didn’t pay the service charge which was optional.

Excellent Sunday roast beef lunch and addition of a steak knife very handy. Unfortunately we seemed to be almost ignored for nearly 30mins having sat down. Being a little annoyed we decided against dessert and a second drink! Nevertheless we will visit again as never had this problem before.

Staff were very helpful and polite. They had a busy Christmas period so a few things were missing from the menu. The main vegetarian choice wasn’t available but the kitchen adapted a meal for me which was very nice . Would definitely visit again.
