   Enjoyed their Cowboy Buddha Margaritas were delicious. We had the Chile Rellenos and Shredded Chicken Tacos Plate were very good! Our server & bartender Heidi was very personable. An enjoyable dinner all around!

   We have always wanted to eat here and finally did. We were not disappointed. We were greeted and seated right away. Both the host and the server were very attentive. We had drinks appetizers, entrees, dessert and coffee. My personal favorite was the elk chili with blue corn muffins. My husband had chicken tacos that were nicely done. The natillas and the carrot cake were fresh and delicious. Great service, food and ambiance.

   Living in Taos, we have eaten here multiple times. This experience was unlike the others. We asked to make a substitute of a vegetable on one of the entrees, this was not possible. Some of our food came out cold. When asked to reheat, it seemed like an imposition. All of the food needed salt. I could hear the waitstaff talking about our table every time we asked for something. We were the only table sat in the restaurant the first hour we were there. For the price of the food, until all of this improves, we will go elsewhere.

   Food was all good. However I ordered the bison ribs for $43, which should have been called bison rib- singular, because it was a very small plate with the equivalent of one rib. It was good but really guys?!? Everything else was good and reasonable sized portions. Just kind of steamed about paying that much for one rib!

   I wanted to love this place but honestly nothing was good. Very very understaffed. We were there for the New Year’s Day brunch and they were out of chicken and 2 of the other more popular dishes. We decided on a salad and burger. The salad was iceburg with corn and black beans sprinkled on it and 5 tortilla chips on top. Beyond a sad salad. My husbands burger was undercooked and fries were soggy and not done. We paid and left and went to Orlando’s for the second time. Do not waste time and $$ on this place.

   I sent the oysters Rockafella back. My wife’s sea bass tasted more like salmon. Desserts were frozen. Wine pairing was more like wine guessing. Stick to the bar and pub grub.

   Our family has been to DMs a few times and even held our daughters birthday dinner here a few years ago. after excitedly booking our reservation for our new years trip, we were left with nothing but disappointment and confusion. While the reservation was extremely hard to secure - the restaurant was half empty when we got there - clearly signaling a staffing issue, which made us sad for the business. However, we found the quiet atmosphere very nice! On a negative note, For starters, our queso dip was straight out of a movie theater Nacho dispenser - it was gelatinous, cold, and neon yellow. That should’ve been our first red flag, but we remained positive. Our mains came out about an hour after ordering (even though we were one of two parties in the entire establishment), and we found a couple problems. 1) the fajitas were barely enough for 1 person and they only gave us one tortilla (when we specifically said we would be sharing them among two members of our party). 2) the chile relleno genuinely had no flavor and had to have come out of the microwave or freezer- the center was cold. 3) the elk stew was fine, not sure exactly what kind of meat was in it. 4) the chicken dish had granulated sugar in the rice (I guess in an attempt to make it sweeter? We don’t really know). 5) the rice on all of our dishes was clearly instant rice and wasn’t even cooked thoroughly - many of us heard crunches as we chomped down on what should be soft, aromatic, and flavorful rice. Overall, and after conversations with other Taos residents, it’s clear that doc martins is undergoing a shift in management and chefs (4 chefs in one year). This makes us so sad because the ambience, location, and history give this place endless potential - and yet, it’s being wasted. I wish doc martins, and their management team the best of luck. #makeDMsGreatAgain I will Say, however, that the drinks were fantastic and lived up to all of our expectations. Hats off to the bartender -stay strong.

    Doc Martin's is in a very special place in Taos. Food is adequate but nothing exceptional.
