At essence bistro, we believe what makes food great is the use of fresh produce. Working with the seasons in Ontario, we get to capture the freshness using everything at its peak. The local bounty inspires us to create seasonal dishes and energizes our team to share our flavours with our guests!

Our Chef has over 20 years of experience in the culinary industry in the most prestigious establishments in the world, and knowledge of several cuisines bringing you a world fusion experience.

We are located in the charming Old Market Lane pocket known as the original Downtown Woodbridge, found on Woodbridge Avenue and a short drive from neighbouring communities such as Kleinburg, Nobleton, Bolton, and Caledon.

The staff was super friendly and accomodating. I had asked for a special request and they went over and above to make it happen. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We had a great time!

Food was great. However, although the service was excellent I would have preferred slower service. Cocktails were delicious. Would definitely be back.

My wife and I really enjoyed this fine dining experience. Food was cooked to perfection with sharp attention to detail. We’ll definitely be returning to this gem of an eatery. Servers were prompt and showed genuine interest in dining experience. I highly recommend. Chief went well out of his way to give us Mille feulle desert which wasn’t on menu; he is a true craftsman of the 100 year old recipe. Keep doing your thing guys and we’ll keep coming back..just go there

Awesome cocktails and sharing plates for four friends. Everything is made in house, unique and yummy. The music made the ambiance upbeat but not too loud to talk. We had a lovely time. Thank you 🙏

Hidden gem in downtown woodbridge. Has a unique menu with flavourful options that all looks amazing. Was very happy with the oysters, duck breast, and lamb chops

We had an amazing experience at this restaurant. Delicious food, beautiful plating. You can really see how the chef pays attention to detail, which made our experience even better. I ordered the cod and it was cooked to perfection, crispy and yet still moist.

The atmosphere was quiet which was great for a conversation. We reserved a table for 5:30pm on a Saturday. The service was great. The food was delicious. It's an elegant and pretty restaurant. I would love to visit again. My friends and I had a great time!
