As a bar-focused restaurant, we craft garden-to-glass cocktails served alongside Chef Joe Zobel's modern American cuisine inspired by West Sonoma County's abundance of biodiversity. Along with our menu of innovative and delicious dishes, the bar features house-made beer and spirit-free elixirs, as well as locally-sourced and small-production wines by the glass. Fern Bar's airy, plant-filled space can be found within The Barlow, Sebastopol's popular shopping and dining destination. Our outdoor dining room is covered with a heater next to every table, it still gets cold so bring a layer.

    Service was slow despite the restaurant being pretty empty. Food was over priced for the portion size. 18$ for two oysters. We ordered the “spicy” lamb skewers which were just doused in a soy sauce and absolutely covered in sesame seeds. Not spicy and not appetizing in the slightest. Didn’t stay to try another thing.

    Fernbar is impeccable every time I go. Some of my party get the same dish every time and they are always stellar. I get whatever looks best on their seasonally changing menu and they never miss. Truly a wonderful treat yourself meal.

    I had enjoyed the falafel before and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately it was extremely dry (it crumbled when I tried to cut it). Our order arrived within about 3 minutes of placing it and made us wonder if it had been sitting out for hours. Kale salad was good. Our server was great.

    I recommend going during happy hour when the food and drink prices are much more reasonable than during regular menu hours. We had the smashed burger -just so so, and kale/green salad which was nicely balanced with fresh ingredients and light vinaigrette. Our friends both had the fried chicken and gave it a thumbs up and one of them had the pigs in blankets - “ pretty good”. The ambiance is lovely and the vibe is fun and upbeat.

    What a lovely eclectic place! The vibe of the restaurant is so cool and funky! It's a really awesome environment. We LOVED the food. Everything we had was so flavorful and unique . So many beautiful flavors. They have a huge cocktail menu but also offer a TON of non alcoholic drinks that taste so good! Our service was perfect as well. Attentive without being overwhelming.This place is a must try in sonoma county . And try the numb nums! The flavor is addictive!

    Great spot for a cocktail, but not ideal for a dinner date. The restaurant felt uncomfortably warm and stuffy, as if everyone was sharing the same air.
