   What a beautiful place to lay back and enjoy exotic food. The chef Eric was very personable and charming, and the service was great, the food spectacular. Everyone must go to experience creole cuisine. It’s a must !!!!!!🌻💕 JG Tribeca

   My family and I were dining here for a birthday and had a great time. There were a couple menu items that they ran out of and we didn’t learn it until after placing our orders. It was also busy so our server took a little while to get back to us but overall we had an amazing experience and will definitely be back! The food was delicious and the flavors were very authentic to Cajun and Creole cuisine.

   The good: The red beans and rice was probably the best I've ever had. The gumbo was second only to a few places in New Orleans. The not so good: the server was super friendly but slow and our drinks came out after we'd already finished two appetizers.

   Walked in and were greeted and seated right away. The band was playing and sounded lovely. I did anticipate the space to have New Orleans decor, but instead was greated with more of an industrial look. We ordered some beignets and biscuits to start. The butter for the biscuits was yummy. The biscuits themselves were a wee bit overcooked. The gumbo and bread pudding was absolutely delicious. We will be back again!!!

   Brunch at File Gumbo was amazing. The food was excellent, staff was plain out amazing and the ambiance, well let's say everything was on point! Added to the great food and staff, we were entertained by a live band. It was like being in New Orleans without leaving New York. We had an enjoyable time celebrating Mother's Day and a birthday at File Gumbo.

   The Gumbo was very rich in flavor and the medium spice level was more than adequate for heat level. It was more Cajun than my Creole roots are accustomed, but excellent in its flavors and presentation. Even though the heat level was more than sufficient, the addition of the house hot sauce provided on the table gave it the extra "twang" to compensate for the absence of the tomato I am used to having in Creole gumbo and the broth was more thin owing to the absence of okra and a less liberal use of file' powder in the pot. Loved the chocolatey roux and the hint of wine added an additional layer of complexity to the flavor profile of the dish. I look forward to visiting again on my next trip to New York. I look forward to trying the Drum Fish and Okra Creole.

   Well, they tried. The food was very good. I will do takeout. The waiter was new, the bartender was not much caliber. I’m sure this is what you get on Weds night at 8:30pm for dinner. The waiter really tried but he was just so green. They were out of Angels Envy so to make up for it they just dumped more syrup in my old fashioned. Cmon! Just say ur out! Insulting. Did I mention that the gumbo was really good?

    Absolutely amazing. After reading the menu, I had high expectations for our first visit. We were not disappointed. The food and service were incredible and we left full and happy!
