We arrived for our reservation and had to wait for a hostess, which at a fine dining restaurant seems odd. Sat at the front of the restaurant at a high top which is not ideal/comfortable for dinner service. Nowhere to hang jackets or purses so I had to put my bag on the floor. No hostess stationed at the front meant people were constantly opening the door for the washroom or holding it open for their party which made it really cold at the front of the restaurant and took away from the dining experience.
Service was super clunky. We didn’t get a drink menu, our server didn’t align with the presentation of the restaurant and was fairly casual in appearance and service. I sent a cocktail back that was made really wrong, without several ingredients, second one was better. Service was slow.
Food was great, it’s too bad the rest of the experience didn’t align with the quality of the kitchen.
We asked about the Speakeasy in the basement which was just featured in Avenue Magazine and seemed really cool. The server said “it’s just a private event space that’s not open all the time, when it’s open and there’s space we allow extras down there based on capacity” which completely killed the appeal of that experience.
