   We had reservations at 7:00 and when we got there we had no room to even stand to wait on a table. People with no reservations were seated ahead of us and we were told they were cleaning a table for us and 40 minutes later we were seating and then waited almost 2 hours before we got our food and it was cold. Miserable experience. They shouldn’t take reservations if they can’t accommodate the people and the kitchen was a complete mess. We have been coming for years and probably won’t be coming back any time soon after that. They ran out of what we ordered and had to settle for what they had left and even the deserts had scalding hot spots and then still cold spots and they had no ice cream! Sorry we had to experience that because we have always loved the restaurant.

   Firebirds is a special celebration place as the food is consistently good. I did feel for all the staff and there were so many being served or awaiting seating.

   We have dined on Christmas Eve at this restaurant for several years and had never had issues...until tonight. It was an early reservation at 5:00 PM. We were on time, seated within 5 minutes and first courses were delivered promptly, even though our first courses were brought out twice by 2 different servers 7 minutes apart. That should have been a clue. Then the train came off the track. A 3 course meal turned into 2 1/2 hours with no alcoholic drinks. 50 minutes between first course and main course entrees being served. There was a major dysfunction either in the kitchen or being short-staffed. We have never had a bad experience here until tonight, but it was horrible. It took so long that my wife was not able to see her mother in an assisted living facility nearby that closed by the time this lengthy dining experience finally ended.

   Great food and service. BLT salad is almost a meal on its own, salmon was excellent.
