   A very minimal amount of effort put into the roasts. Carrots were so very boring and barely cooked. We had a Bloody Mary that boasted ingredients on the menu that failed to deliver and served in what looked like water glasses! Come on guys, you can do better.

   Food was delicious, staff efficient but no interaction. Plastic plants and leaves could do with a dust. No music or background sounds, so felt everyone was listening to my conversation. Excellent clean toilets. Tables are fixed booths so not much room on a table for 2 with shopping bags, felt squished.

   Staff were welcoming and friendly but the food was bland. Pasta from the children's menu appeared to just be a tin of chopped tomatoes and pasta. I had the mushroom gnocchi and it just didn't taste of very much at all.

   Service and ambience are excellent. Goat cheese croquettes were delightful, cooked perfectly, full of flavor and served with a flavorful beets salad. The main course, line caught haddock was extremely overcooked, very dry and consisted of more batter than fish. The main course took a while to arrive so maybe it was sitting under a heat lamp for an extended period of time as evidenced by the mushy peas with a crust on top. I would have sent it back if the restaurant had not been so busy and I had an appointment after eating. Overall not a great experience and represented another over rated restaurant of which there are many these days. I would not recommend Forest.

    Wide choice of menu. Food absolutely delicious. Service excellent, very attentive. My favourite place to eat in York.
