I was hoping to like this but it was just awful. Brown edges on the prawn cocktail lettuce like it was cut days ago. Overcooked pork. Goats cheese that was nuked on the outside and still chilled inside. Greasy bread and unpleasant flavoured butter. Like your kid nephew got the keys to the place after a week at catering school. Bad. Real bad. Learn to cook sonny before inflicting this on the paying public. Sorry but this was terrible. Ugh. Frustrating…

Excellent meal - 3 courses all lovely. Fabulous Prawn Cocktail, superb Pork Loin main dish with vegetables and yummy chocolate & orange cake dessert. Beautifully made, locally sourced - couldn't be better. My Partner agreed - he had ox cheek main - also delicious.

Absolutely delicious food. One of the best restaurants I have been too in a while. The environment and decor is simple, but the food is far from it, exquisite flavours that will leave you wanting more. I am already looking at booking again. The staff and chefs are friendly and looked after us. Went above and beyond. Thank you.

The Fork is always a treat: the menu always lives up to expectations as to choice and locally sourced fare, ditto a warm welcome and excellent service. Thank you for a superb meal!

A Top Chef is Jack the Head Chef at Fork and the waitress was lovely. Good value for my birthday.

We visited Fork for the first time and arrived by train from Brighton. We walked up Station Road as far as the High Street before realising that we had missed it. In darkness of the winter evening, it was difficult to discern the small sign on the front. Thankfully, we were not able to find anything else that may be improved upon at Fork. The staff were warm and welcoming and despite our early arrival (we had given ourselves plenty of time to find the place), they were able to accommodate us. The decor is Scandi style with smooth pale wood panelling and white globe wall lights. The menu is small and the food is prepared from fresh local ingredients. We were offered mushroom vol au vent amuse bouches while we perused the menu. They were light and delicious and whet our appetites for what was to follow. We had two courses each and the food was delicious. The poached pear with whipped goats cheese and a rainbow of beetroot salad was a delight for the eyes and taste buds. The cauliflower and stilton soup was rich and very warming. Perfect for a wintry evening. The grey mullet was cooked to perfection and the samphire, crispy kale and mussel broth delicious! We were both delighted with our food and the wine choice was a pleasant surprise too. We had the German Pinot Noir from Villa Wolf. I will definitely be making a return visit to Fork as soon as my social calendar allows.

Excellent lunch using predominantly local produce. Good choice on menu without too many choices. Good Service. Would recommend & will go again.

The food had good flavour, though the soup was rather too thick, and it was mistake to serve the beignets in the soup rather than on the side. This made the lower half of the batter soggy, and it had begun to disintegrate by the time the dish was served. A main course of venison was far better, extremely well cooked. The plating here is poor. Felt more like a home cook's presentation than a professional chef's. The plates are also too small and feel crowded. Ambience is all right, but the restaurant was cold when we were there.

This was a very mixed bag. The service is lovely but the place itself is a bit austere, which isn’t really a problem as that’s a matter of taste. The problem is that the food is very mixed. My ox cheeks were delicious but my husband’s pork was dry (we can all make dry pork at home; we rely on a good restaurant to make it juicy!). The bread, at an extra cost, was of very mediocre quality and came with two flavoured butters: black pepper and Parmesan and tikka masala. Why would anyone want tikka masala butter?? Good fresh butter on good bread can’t be beat. My husband’s dessert of apple and almond tart was superb, but my pear and ginger crumble was watery and lacklustre (one cube of preserved ginger popped on top does not make it a ‘pear and ginger crumble’). We are happy to pay for— and support the use of— locally produced food, but the basics need to be got right.

Great food in a very pleasant setting with knowledgeable staff: we even met the Head Chef to discuss menu choices! Highly recommend.
