I’ve been to this location many times over many years. Always enjoyed it which is why we go back often when family is visiting etc. tonight we had a party of 8, we were on time for our reservation, hostess doesn’t even say a word to me upon arrival in front of her…I had to say hello after standing in front of her for a few mins without being acknowledged… then made to wait a bit until the last 3 of our party arrived (4 mins after us, and within 5 mins of our reservation). The whole experience felt incredibly rushed and it was clear they were just trying to get people in and out as quick as possible, 3/8 entrees our guests tried to ordered “were out of that” and they had to pick something else on the spot. The food was good, which I’m glad about. But all entrees came out on top of our apps. When we were brought the TOTAL for our dinner, we had the server come with just the credit card swipe device without ever being given a bill to view??!!! Makes NO sense…. She simply told us what the total was and expected payment right there. It was odd an awkward, who doesn’t want to see their bill?? We paid and then asked for a copy of the full receipt as we should have been given from the start. Then she had us fill out the “did you enjoy your experience” on the device right in front of her??? We were there not even 90 minutes before the total was being jammed down our throats, then within 5 minute of us having just paid we were asked to get up and leave because the next party was ready for our table. So unprofessional and not a good feeling that a party of 8 who just spent $500 is being rushed out in such a short time. Sadly, this wont be our go to any longer.

Excellent food and drink. My only complaint is that we had not finished our appetizers when our main courses came out and there was not enough room on the table for both! Next time I would ask for a wait in between!

Went for Christmas dinner. Foggy Bottom was one of the two locations that had the a’ la carte menu which was why I picked the location. It was a little crowded waiting for our reservation time and they were behind but we expected that and didn’t mind. There were three of us and we all were happy with our meals. We had wings and the corn bread skillet for appetizers. The wings were really good. I’m not a fan of corn in my cornbread but it still tasted good. I had fried shrimp with fries, coleslaw and corn bread. The shrimp and fries were really good. The coleslaw was a little blah. Our other two diners had a platter with ribs, cheeseburger sliders and fried chicken and coleslaw. They both loved theirs but also were not fans of the coleslaw. The staff was friendly and professional and fast. We enjoyed talking to them and the two different sets of patrons sitting beside us. We had a great Christmas dinner despite it not being an “traditional” Christmas dinner and would come back again.

Thank you for your thoughtful review, Margaret! We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your Christmas dinner with us, despite the slight delay. We are also happy that the wings, fried shrimp, and other dishes were a hit! We appreciate your feedback on the coleslaw and will certainly take it into consideration. We look forward to welcoming you back for another great meal! -Kiara

Even though we had a reservation we still had to wait around 30minutes. Then we were placed next to a shelf with heavy jars and items which could easily land on our heads especially injuring our children. The food seemed rushed and not on par to the usual quality. Lesson learned for next time.

We went on Christmas Day and it was extremely busy. We were seated about 25 minutes past our reservation but we expected this. We have been to several Founding Farmers before but this was our first time to the Foggy Bottom location. The food was incredible! We now have another favorite meal which is the Honey Thyme Spatchcock chicken. I was looking at other tables and noticed they had a large tasty looking biscuits. The biscuit does come with this specific meal but I ordered some the side. Some of the best biscuits we have ever had. Our Christmas dinner was very memorable and I will not be waiting until next Christmas to go back.

5:00 pm reservation for 3 was 40 minutes delayed. Seemed like walk-ins had preference. Food was tasty but portions small, especially for the cost. Maybe because of holiday or some other reason, I would think twice before returning.

My family has been doing Christmas dinner at Founding Farmers (DC) for the past several years. This will be the last time we do so. We had a 4 :15 reservation and had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was overcrowded, and extremely loud. The experience has gotten word each year and this year was the last straw.
