My go-to at G is always the day boat seafood but salmon didn’t appeal. The haddock was fine—nice fish—but not a stand out meal. Caesar salad—plated thoughtfully and attractively for 2 of us sharing—was not to my taste—small bits of lettuce and lots of dressing. The server simply cleared the dish when I told her why it was left uneaten. Dinner companion was thrilled with his pork chop. A birthday was celebrated so that was the point, right? Crème brûlée was perfect—crunchy and soft in all the right places. Coffee refill was not offered when the bill was presented. Went to unpack our boxed take-home and there was one box, not two. Missed my lunch! At G you know what to expect in terms of ambiance and noise level. Closely spaced tables give a sense of busy places in busy cities. Vibrant and fun, couples and families. While this was not my most successful visit to G, it won’t stop me from going back every few months in hopes of a really great meal.

I took my friend for her birthday. I didn’t have much appetite, so I won’t review my pork chop. ( just went on Ozempic .) However. My friend raved about her sesame encrusted salmon. We shared the dumpling appetizer and enjoyed it. I could be wrong, but I think they changed the recipe. It tasted more “sausage” than it used to. But, again, could be just me. Our server was outstanding as was the rest of the friendly staff. Andy, the bartender is like sunshine in a tall, handsome bottle. 😀 As usual, this is a great little restaurant. A little pricey, but worth it.

I made a reservation for a table for five and when we arrived the table they set for us was a table for four with an extra chair placed on one end. I asked the staff if this was their usual set up for a table for five and they said “yes” and pointed to another table set up the same way. Granted, the restaurant is small and cramped and five is an odd number, but squeezing five adults onto to a table for four is unacceptable. So, if you plan on making a reservation for five at G Bar, make it for six, or else you will squeezed onto a four top.
