Welcome to Gaijin Sushi – a unique and intimate dining experience in Birmingham. Our 10-seat sushi bar is dedicated to omakase, a chef-curated tasting menu that showcases the finest seasonal ingredients with precision and creativity. Guests regularly describe it as one of the best sushi experiences in the UK.

The food is excellent. Amazing quality salmon and tuna and beautifully presented. What let our experience down was the service. The two ladies on service were not organised or attentive in any way. Our miso soup starter bowls weren’t collected for our entire meal and we barely had any space on our table. They didn’t check in with us once during our entire meal. Our drinks sat empty for 30 minutes but another was never offered so we decided to leave it and just end the experience. It is such a shame - I recommend to management that they get new service staff so as not to let down the experience.

We wanted to love this place as we regularly go out for sushi and have been recommended this place. We booked it as a joint birthday treat and were sadly underwhelmed. The food itself was nice but overpriced. There was no atmosphere or nice decor, and the service was pretty basic and not the friendly upbeat manner you’d expect - especially as service charge is added to the bill. Considering the price point, we did expect more value for money and generally more enjoyable experience. If you want a nice experience, really nice food and great service we’d recommend Sushi Passion instead.

Gaijin is surely one of the best sushi restaurants in Birmingham, in my opinion. The food is always amazing, and I appreciate the attentive service. I went for the Omakase tasting menu, and it was a fantastic experience. I found the price reasonable for what you receive. For some, it may be expensive, but I honestly believe that you always pay for quality, and the food is undoubtedly of high quality. Totally recommended!

Incredible omakase experience. The salmon belly was our favourite. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Great value for money and we’re excited to return!

We had the tasting experience and it did not disappoint. The sushi was delicious and it wasn’t the same as a usual sushi place. So so good. We will be back!

It exceeded my expectations. I chose the Omakase, not knowing which sushi would be served. I’m originally from Japan, but I enjoyed their sushi just as much as, or even more than, what I’ve had in Japan. Thank you so much

My wife and I have had good japanese food in Japan and Singapore. We felt the seafood here is not as fresh as we had hoped for the omakaze. We had relayed our feedback to the team, who have then informed us that the seafood was 'delivered yesterday'. They have promised to look into their supply chain. Unfortunately, this was not a good experience for us for the price of the food.
