The “Giannino dal 1899” restaurant enters rightfully become part of the best historic restaurants in Milan with over one hundred years of history.

The recent renovation has managed to preserve the almost aristocratic elegance of the past.

The location offers a maximum of 90 seats divided into different rooms in a classic context.

The rooms offer two rooms with a maximum capacity of 25 people and a private room that can accommodate up to 10 people with TV and smoking area.

In the central room, the American Bar dominates, where you can choose from a selection of spirits and spirits of Italian and international origin.

Respecting the Italian and Milanese gastronomic tradition, the restaurant's Grand Carte offers fresh homemade pasta and is characterised by historic dishes
as ossobuco, Milanese risotto and veal cutlet.

    I had no experience because the Place is closed… it’s NOT open. For business. We went after making a reservation on Open Table at 7 :30 at night on a Tuesday and the place was closed . It had bums camped out outside as if they lived there permanently. You should really check with your restaurants before allowing customers to make reservations. We had to walk about town at night in Milan to look for another place to eat. Very disappointed and dissatisfied with open table for allowing me to make this reservation.

    After reaching restaurant at the Open table confirmed reservation date and time I found it’s closed and had an embarrassing moment with my guests. This is the worst experience I had and don’t know why Open table is taking and confirming the booking in a closed restaurant.

    Esperienza davvero deludente, un vero peccato! Il locale è bello, ma il servizio e il cibo sono stati di qualità molto inferiore alle aspettative. Ho scelto questo ristorante per San Valentino, pensando di fare una bella figura, essendo un locale rinomato a Milano, ma il risultato è stato il contrario. Il servizio è stato pessimo, con un personale poco professionale. Dopo esserci seduti, ci hanno dato il menù, e abbiamo ordinato acqua per noi e per il nostro cane. Un cameriere ha salutato il cane con frasi inappropriate ("tra noi cagne ci salutiamo così"). Dopo dieci minuti, ci portano l’antipasto, MA SENZA NULLA DA BERE. Finito l'antipasto, ci hanno chiesto cosa volessimo mangiare ma, di nuovo, senza mai portarci il menù dei vini. Facciamo notare la cosa e finalmente ordiniamo il vino, oltre a due antipasti e un primo da dividere. Finiti gli antipasti il primo è arrivato dopo mezz'ora oltre che non esser per niente buono. Dopo averlo finito, abbiamo chiesto il menù per i secondi, ma sono passati altri 40 minuti senza che ci fosse un cameriere; non solo per noi, ma anche per gli altri tavoli, dove si notava un imbarazzo crescente tra i clienti. Finalmente, un cameriere è passato e ci ha portato il menù, ma poi sono passati altri dieci minuti senza che nessuno venisse a prenderci l’ordine. Così, sia noi che un’altra coppia abbiamo deciso di andarcene. Alla cassa, ci siamo trovati di fronte ancora al cameriere che ci aveva fatto sentire a disagio, il quale ha continuato con frasi imbarazzanti. CI FA PAGARE SENZA CHIEDERE COME FOSSE ANDATA. 150€: due antipasti, un primo e un vino INCREDIBILE & INACCETTABILE Infine, esclama:“Se vi siete trovati bene, tornerete, altrimenti non ditelo in giro”. Abbiamo chiaramente espresso il nostro disappunto, dicendo che non torneremo mai più, solo lì il cameriere ci ha capito, dicendo che avremmo dovuto dirglielo prima del conto. Siamo così usciti dal ristorante completamente delusi dall'esperienza.

    It's a shadow of what it was only 4 years ago. Of the "old" Giannino, only the name remains. Food is bland, the staff is still doing their best but you can immediately see that it's not a top-tier restaurant anymore.

    Found the food underwhelming which was disappointing. Service was good, place is nice but with so many other options in Milan, this was one I would not return to.

    The most awkward experience!!! First of all this review may be visible on OpenTable, but Giannino 1899 will NEVER EVER see it since they do not take reservations thru your App!!! We had another couple next to us who faced the same inconvenience of having a confirmed booking form you, that the restaurant had literally no clue of, neither do they even know what OpenTable is!!! Amazing!! That being said, we had been in the restaurant several times pre-Covid, and whilst the food remains decent at a slightly disaligned value for money through, it seems that the owner has been hit by a post-Covid trauma, and fell in love with a young DJ who literally transformed the restaurant into a war zone, noise-level wise, and despite many many repeated requests to lower the volume, the young lady would not bother and we left devastated and deaf, promising ourselves to never ever come back, whatever the food experience may have been... It is hard to believe that such poor service and poor common sense can even exist in a post-Covid world😏... Shameful!
