We have been to Ginza many times and we’re looking forward to the evening. Sadly from start to finish it was a disappointing evening. The ambience has taken a dive. It’s always been a quiet downstairs venue but now coupled with awful cover music and service not fitting for the style of food and price that you are paying it is so disappointing. There used to be a manager/ head waiter who ran a tight ship but now there are various Eastern European waitresses doing their own thing and not at all adding to the Ginza name. The lady serving us even opened the wine away from the table and sampled it herself to “test it was ok” £300 for 2 people - which was a 50% discount was a lot to pay for a very average experience. Sadly we won’t be going back.

Lovely service (although you can only pick one tea, but have unlimited hot water refills). The food was delicious, especially the black cod savoury balls.

As we were in Japan in December and our friends will be visiting in May we felt that an evening out in a Japanese restaurant and bar would be fun. It certainly was. The Happy Hour cocktails were good value and the £87 fixed price menu likewise. As always the wine was a tad on the pricey side and perhaps the service, at the start a bit lacklustre, however as the evening wore on it all improved Overall a good place to go.
