Unexpectedly FANTASTIC! Food, Service, ambience and design.. excellent. A new GEM to relax and unwind in- while taking a break from the elegant but frenetic atmosphere of Grand Central terminal. Can't wait to return.

Restaurant is beautiful especially during the holiday season. The service was very poor. Wait staff was not very nice; rushed us. Steak was undercooked, sent back twice - not resolved and never offered to take off bill. The restaurant is extremely loud and hectic. The staff is simply not capable of handling the volume. I hope they turn things around because it’s a beautiful location.

I had such high expectations for Grand Brasserie and was looking forward to bringing my wife here for an afternoon lunch, but it fell short in many ways. We ordered coffee to start and requested milk and sweetener at the time of ordering. Unfortunately, the milk and sweetener didn’t arrive until our first course came and we needed to request two more replacement coffees as the first two had gotten cold already. Also, we had to ask for milk and sweetener multiple times with multiple employees. I ordered the steak frites from the Prix Fixe menu, which meant an $18 up charge. I can understand the up charge, but the hanger steak was about 1/4 the size of what it should’ve been. In addition, it took far longer than it should have to arrive, and the lukewarm temperature of the steak confirmed that the reason for the delay was simply because our server failed to bring it out while it was still hot. It was also slightly overdone from how I ordered it. Paying the bill was also interesting. When offered the opportunity to add a gratuity in varying amounts ranging from 20% to 25%, it was clear that the math was off, and it appeared that I was being prompted to tip on the full amount including tax. I’m very happy to tip generously for service, but I’m not going to tip of the sales tax. This system for adding gratuities is dishonest and a pure money grab on behalf of the servers. There were several other issues, but the aforementioned were the most glaring. If the steak had been the proper temperature, it would’ve been delicious. The coffee was great, but the way it was handled set the timing off as we would’ve preferred to have enjoyed our coffee before the meal. This restaurant looks beautiful and the food could be fantastic is served at the proper temperature. It seems as though the primary issue here is how the staff coordinates their responsibilities as it appears that the communication between the various departments is sorely lacking.

I highly recommend that you obtain more than one highchair for babies. It is truly remarkable that a 400 seat Restaurant only has one highchair.

First time. So I ordered the shrimp cocktail which was amazing and the serving was huge. Well presented! Wanted to try the sardines but they were out! Ordered the Lamb Saddle served with celery root and lamb jus. Perfectly cooked really good flavor. It was less than warm I had to send it back to get it up to temp. That was disappointing. Waiter was replaced and was not informed. Waited a minute just to get the check. So long my wine was not refilled so I just paid and left. I would go back so I will give it a 3 for this review

The perfect brunch before our train trip home! The restaurant is beautiful, every detail was done with intention . The service was excellent! All the servers were friendly and attentive . The food was superb and the portions were generous . Between the two of us we had the Vichyssoise, a leek and potato soup served hot, the quiche of the day, the Avocado Tartine and the chocolate mousse. Each dish was absolutely delicious. We kidded that it would be worth a train ride to and from New York from Central Connecticut just to eat there.

We sat in the back room which while richly decorated was very loud and as we were a party of 7 it seemed claustrophobic. Want to sit in the Vanderbilt room next time. Would imagine it’s a great place for a quick drink or bite to eat before getting on the train. Food was good although better French bistro food elsewhere.
