   The Food was great. Our Server was rude. Overall would rather there again. But I would request a different server.

   Had the Mediterranean Chicken it was tough and rice was undercooked. Meatloaf was fair but the ketchup sauce had a sweet strange flavor. Waitress was very professional and pleasant but is was very apparent they were understaffed or the leadership didn’t have their act together.

   Our waiter came to our table once to take our order and he never came back until we flagged him down for the check! The manager delivered our meals with empty glasses of all 4 of us. We had to ask for refills, he didn’t offer and then only brought 2 and never returned! We flagged down a hostess to get us refills. She said she would and never did! It was the worst service I’ve had by all the employees! I won’t return!

   Had reservations for 7 plus 2 high chairs. They were not very busy & had many open tables. We were crammed into a table that barely fit 6 while other bigger tables were open & remained open. We had to repeatedly ask for refills on our water & sodas. We were there for brunch & our empty plates were never removed from our already crammed table. Another large party came in after us & they were seated with ice water at each seat before they arrived. Nothing like that for us. The "prime rib" was an end piece cut almost an inch thick & was mostly fat & gristle. I hate wasting food especially at a buffet but the beef was not edible. There was fruit & bacon on the floor in the buffet line causing one of us to almost fall with a plate of good. On tile flooring it's very slippery. Very, very expensive for poor service, loud atmosphere, poor prime rib & again poor service. We have been to GC many times but not for a while. This was truly a terrible experience.

   Typically Granite City is our go-to restaurant when coming in from out of town. This visit started off well with a waiter that seemed engaged and ready to serve. Apps and entrees came out quickly. Then it went downhill. It was nearly an hour before he came back to check on us for our desert order. We were finally able to place that and then it was again, nearly an hour before that arrived. Finally told him to just make it all to go as we had someplace to be. Apparently this upset someone who was in charge of making deserts as the cookie was completely shattered, leaving a very poor impression. Hopefully this was a fluke as we have really enjoyed this restaurant in the past. Not sure if this was a matter of being understaffed, overwhelmed, or what. This experience was disappointing--hopefully the next will be better.

I'll be talking to the team to reteach check back times on tables and to be more attentive to our guests needs during their meal progress.    We had the Valentines Day dinner for 2 and it was delicious. The portion sizes were perfect. The noise levels were as expected for a fully packed restaurant while a live musician. Our server was attentive and made sure our drinks never ran out.

   Typical service for a busy Friday night on Valentine’s day. However, my chicken was hard as a rock it was very difficult to cut with my knife… They had a live performer which was good but would could barely hear each other it was so loud. The waitress was kind and busy.
