Greystone took my party reservation on short notice, after Morton’s “lost” my reservation. Definitely going back!

We had a special party with 10 people, and while the serving staff was wonderfully attentive, the food was bland, poorly prepared, the expensive wagyu steaks were barely edible, the side dishes were uninspired, and the desserts must have come from Costco. The kitchen looked like a bomb had gone off and the cooks must have poured all their despair, anger, and sorrow into our food. Eat elsewhere.

The highlight of a birthday dinner was pleasant servers Jen and Maya. Otherwise this was a less than stellar experience and I can say I would not recommend. I was told the head chef was out but that does not excuse the inability of the backup chef. Appetizers The calamari was chewy and had a seasoning that made it taste like chewy popcorn. The crab cake was cold as if it came directly from the refrigerator. It tasted like tuna salad vs. crab cake. Wedge salad was over dressed with salad dressing. Rib eye steaks lacked seasoning and were room temperature. Street corn was more like a corn chowder and not tasty. Loaded mashed potatoes were bland mashed potatoes with cheese and bacon on top. The servers did their best in trying to make things better but this meal could not be salvaged.

I was with friends celebrating 2 birthdays -- our dinners and service were excellent, although the prices are somewhat expensive and everything is a la carte which can rapidly increase one's bill. However, it was a special event and well worth the splurge. I think our server was Jennifer or Jenny, and she was terrific as were the other wait staff. It was nice that my friends whose birthdays we were celebrating, were each able to select a complimentary dessert for their special day, vs. given a specific dessert for the celebration which is what many restaurants do.

No valet, very loud, not enough servers, small tables, some of the food items very good, others mediocre. Charged for a bottle of water that wasn't ordered, plus they charge a 3.75% additional surcharge that goes in the pocket of the owner. Out of the bottle of wine on the menu that I ordered. Up-charged me for a bottle of wine that I didn't enjoy as much. Normally pay $600 for a party of 4. They charged $700. The price is still bothering me 4 days later considering the poor ambiance and service.

Started with “Signature Crab Cakes” which is how it’s listed on the menu. The word “cakes” leads you to believe there in more than one cake. Not the case: there’s only one. Order mushrooms which were completely burnt and charred and mushy. Cream spinach was runny and unedible. Ordered the 14 oz DRY-AGED NEW YORK CENTER CUT steak cooked medium-rare, Oscar-style. The bernaise was runny but helped to cover the unpleasant visual of the very fatty steak. Last straw came with complimentary birthday…offering (??). Still not sure what it was, but had obviously had been refrigerated for a long time (had odd fridge taste). I’m really not hard to please with a good, decent dinner. This was not good or decent and had me apologizing profusely to the birthday girl that I brought in for her special dinner. I just rolled my eyes when I saw the bill bc it was such a waste. Would not go back, which is unfortunate.

Greystone is Amazing!!! We visited last week and had an incredible meal. My filet was cooked to perfection and all of our sides were so delicious. Their cocktails too, the Greystone-tini was super good. We eat out a lot and this place is top notch! Love their wine selection.

Wonderful experience overall. We sat next to the wine case upstairs and the light kept going on and off was a little off putting because it would catch the corner of my eye during conversation. I should have asked to move. Service was the best part of the experience Joe was on his game. Good was above average my steak was cooked like I asked my dates fish was good it was the Sea Bass great combo of flavors. Sides had little to no real presentation to them. Asparagus still had the fibrous ends and the mushroom seemed soggy. Bread and butter was good. Had calamari appetizer not sure if fresh or frozen.

Absolutely exquisite dinner at Greystone! Do not miss this gem when in the Gaslamp Quarter. The food and services is top notch and it's local unlike a lot of the other steakhouses in the area. My Filet was perfectly cooked. the oysters super fresh and delicious and the Wagu Appetizer super good. We also had the gnocchi and scallops, both excellent. Will definitely be back soon!
