Gusto Ristorante is a Northern Italian restaurant with a touch of the South at the Sea Turtle Marketplace in Hilton Head Island.
The executive chef and owner Giancarlo Balestra with his wife Nancy bring the vibrant flavors of his native hometown of Rome, Italy to Hilton Head. The couple who met in Rome 28 years ago discovered their shared passion for food and adventure and have since owned and operated restaurants in Aspen, Co, Winter Park, Fla and Saratoga Springs, NY. They fell in love with Hilton Head and decided to jump into this new exciting culinary adventure, hence the name Gusto, which means flavor and taste in Italian but also means a zest and enthusiasm for a delicious taste of life. The restaurant has a full bar, extensive wine list.

Everything about this restaurant is first class. We were greeted warmly, service was awesome and the drinks and food were amazing! we had the calamari piastra appetizer, oh my goodness, and two specials pork Milanese and blue crab ravioli with shrimp and Vodka sauce. Both were amazing! Why haven't we been here before?! We will be back! Great experience!

Too many people crammed into a small space. We were right next to other people. We might as well be sitting together. There was no privacy. The appetizers were overpriced. The amount of calamari was laughable for the price. However, the entrees were good and the service was great.

Was very busy as it is presidents weekend. Our food was delicious but overall crowded atmosphere of restaurant detracted from experience. We have been here many times and restaurant was crowded. Seemed like there were extra tables stuffed in the room and service suffered. Will be back …food is always good and service as well. Just an off weekend I assume

Food was amazing service was top notch. Noise was moderate but it was Valentine’s Day and expected with how busy they were. Loved everything only wish I had room for dessert!

The food was bland, they ran out of the special pretty early on, our waiter hustled but the service was so slow. There are better Italian choices out there!

Service is great. Food was not great compared to other Italian restaurants on the island. I would say if you like Chicken parm, stick with that. But don’t go complex or it will be very underwhelming. Chicken rustico was all vegetables and chicken was sliced up cutlets, and not much of it. Not good. Chicken Marsala, tasteless. Drinks were watery, dirty martinis that were not dirty. Great ambience, super nice staff. Kitchen needs to stop skimping! Tons of potential.

First time at Gusto’s, and enjoyed it very much. Excellent service, menu had a wide array of choices including vegetarian, food was delicious. Good wine selection. Will definitely return for another great meal.

Didn’t expect to be seated in outside area with tarpaulin as walls. Seated to close to outside tarp was too cold from wind. We had to move to middle of room to feel heaters. We love Gusto’s and the food was great as always. Sitting outside took away from the evening.
