Our owner, Chef Richard Hales a four generation Tampa family since 1954, is back in his hometown of Tampa after 25 years away mastering Asian cuisine, opening award winning restaurants and appearing on the Food Network; beloved by the likes of Guy Fieri. Our seasonal menu features Asian techniques using the fi nest ingredients and availability of locally sourced produces. Chef Hales’ invites you to experience eclectic ambiance, elevated service and his version of Chinese cuisine.

    Hales is a quaint restaurant with consistently excellent food and service! We have dined here many times and highly recommend the Soup Dumplings, Salt & Pepper Shrimp, Brussels Sprout, Prime Ribeye, and Yangzhou Fried Rice as some of our favorites.

    Wonderful evening. Chef visited table twice. Food phenomenal. Taylor awesome as usual. Front desk accommodated our wish to not sit at very back of restaurant (which we 💯appreciated). Can’t wait to visit again!!

    Excellent food but Food came way too fast between sitting down, ordering, then food all came at once in 10 min! Space out your orders we asked several times to space it out but every dish was on table at once

    Everything was good… I don’t have anything bad to say about the experience. That said… $32 for fried rice is excessive… you can get solid Chinese food at other places for less.. so I’m sorry to say the value proposition isn’t there..

    My daughter and I were visiting friends in Tampa . We had Saturday night free and read several excellent review for Hales Black Brick. We were not disappointed. The service is welcoming and attentive. The food is delicious and perfectly prepared. We started with a dumpling tower and egg roll, then mesmerized ourselves with the appetizer duck beast, potstickers, brussel sprouts, and tiger shrimp. Generous portions but we ate every bite. Chef Richard Hales stopped by the table. His food is a testament to his hard work and travels in the business. I'm thrilled to learn that Hales Blackbrick is expanding and Chef is moving many of his well trained up and along with him. I look forward to gong again. Oh' their walnut Manhattan is a must!

    My new favorite dish is the kung pao asparagus! I don’t even like asparagus but gave it a chance! So, so good! It was a nice surprise to have a table visit from Chef Hales! Can’t wait for the new location to open!
