There were 4 of us at 1 pm. We all ordered the $25 lunch special. I asked if the shrimp scampi came with rice or anything. I don’t think our server spoke English very well because his answer was no. When my “shrimp scampi” arrived, it was a big bowl of pasta with no visible shrimp. I searched through the mound of pasta and found a few little pieces of cut-up shrimp. No, I didn’t complain at the time because I didn’t want to make a big deal in front of our friends who we hadn’t seen in a long time. Very disappointing.

We were pleasantly surprised….place was charming and great location. Food was very good and the portions were generous. We had enough for another meal the next day.

Pleasantly surprised for a casual restaurant in a hotel. Overall, very good but have some "issues" (for want of a better word. I ordered the Restaurant week menu and my wife was a la carte. My wife thought her hamburger and chocolate cupcake were very good. I found the beet salad excellent - the added crunch from the hazelnuts was a nice twist. My salmon was good but seemed to be baked or poached rather than grilled - most grill and it's a bit more flavorful that way. However, not a major issue. I did not, however, like the seasoning of the accompaniments but that is really a personal taste matter and not necessarily a fault. My cheesecake was good, but "uneven". The outer edge was dense and dry while the center was "almost liquid" and creamy, with a gradation of texture in-between. Portions fairly large. My two main issues - and again not major - were that I had seen coffee on the website menu and ordered same. When it came, I recognized it as Americano version - not what I requested (and also $1 more). As it turns out, at night, there is only Americano - which I normally would not order as I don't like it. However, this one was excellent. Nonetheless, I would have wanted to be told that there was only Americano as their menu shows other types and I thought I was ordering standard brewed coffee. Another minor issue - which probably related to a technical biiling glitch was a $10 surcharge for my salmon. As it turns out, during non-Restaurant Week, there is a prixe fixe dinner special with a $10 surcharge for salmon. I assume that the surcharge in my case was an innocent error although the computer billing should have been set up to avoid it. However, promptly removed. The restaurant was quiet becasue we were essentially the only ones ther. One table left just after we arrived and three sat down just before we left. I did find the ambience a bit "offsetting" We were essentially seated in an open area right off the lobby - like it was almost part of the lobby.

We reserved a table at HARTA for Christmas day dinner not realizing that it is located in a Hyatt Hotel property. The service was spotty. There was no one manning the greeter area when we arrived. They attempted to seat us in the bar; there seemed to be no realization that we had reserved a table for the special Christmas day dinner. We seated ourselves at a more desirable table. Once we got settled, it took a minute to get a cocktail and a glass of wine. At the end of the meal, the wine was comped due the tardiness of its arrival. The food was fine. It’s a good value for a NYC hotel meal.

Honestly, this dinner was a disaster. We had a reservation and were told that we had two options: we could sit at the table they had for us but had to vacate the table in 1 hr 10 mins or we could accept a bar table right next to the hostess stand. I asked if everyone else had a reservation and she said "no, most people are walk-ins." So I was quite frustrated that our reservation didn't give us priority over walk-ins and that, despite having a reservation, we couldn't actually sit at a table in the dining room. Insane. With no other options on a Saturday night in midtown, we accepted the bar/lounge table. Big mistake! It was right next to the hostess stand so therefore right next to the hotel front door--every person opening it sent a gust of 20 degree December air our way. My wife and 8yo son ate dinner with their winter coats on the whole time. The dinner itself didn't go well, either. We waited almost an hour for food (we would have been kicked out of our other table right as food arrived!). My wife ordered a basic martini and it came with lemon (why?!), so she sent it back--they dumped it out and remade it in the same glass so it tasted of...you guessed it...lemon. We never had our water refilled. Our steak came without a steak knife so I had to get one from the bar. We never got a chance to order any additional drinks, so we ate our meal with no beverages. Just all around awful experience. There are too many good restaurants in NYC to waste your time here.

Booked a reservation here after viewing the menu and photos online. The place is beautiful in person, and the location is great, but the overall quality of the dining experience was disappointing, particularly the food. The potato and chorizo croquettes tasted like hush puppies filled with bland ground pork; if there was any actual chorizo in it, it was not discernable. My husband ordered the steak frites medium and it was truly some of the toughest meat either of us had ever had. The glass of red wine he received was full of sediment. The crab bisque was beautifully presented, but overwhelmingly fishy. If you are a visitor to New York City, I would strongly recommend dining elsewhere in the neighborhood. If you work nearby and want to have after-work cocktails with a small group, this might be a quieter and less-crowded alternative to some of the nearby staples.
