   I found the food disappointing. The mango salad had tiny cubes of mango that were lost to taste. The cucumber pieces were huge (cut diagonally) and had to be eaten by themselves. The grilled shrimp was excellent, just smoky enough. Overall, the taste was bland and did not meld. The dressing might as well not have been there at all. Then the Japanese pancake. This is probably something I shouldn't have ordered, expecting as I did something akin to Korean or Vietnamese pancakes. Instead the texture was like uncooked batter (supposed to be souffle-like). The tastes were unpleasant, mingling egg with fish (bonito.) I could not eat it. However, maybe it tasted as it should? The high point was the service. Normally I don't care much one way or the other but Jamie was just perfect. She watched out for my husband who cannot walk well when he had to go back to the car. She anticipated our needs, re water and to-go box. She magically appeared just as I had the thought that I wanted her help. She was upbeat but not intrusive or phony. She was cheerful and funny and kind and professional. She is the best waitperson I have ever had!!!

   This restaurant was listed in an Open Table list of “highest rated neighborhood gems”, so we decided to give it a try as it had a great menu. We had 7:00 reservations and arrived a little early. We had to wait 15 minutes to be seated even though there were several open booths. Waited another 20 for someone to greet us and take our drink order which then took another 20 to receive at which point they still hadn’t taken our order. There were 2 servers for the whole restaurant and they also acted as the hosts. They were nice as could be, but didn’t seem to have a clue what they were doing and spent an inordinate amount of time huddled around 1 iPad. At one point the woman who was in charge, started yelling at both of the servers and then at the 2 cooks in front of us and then stormed out the front door - but did eventually come back. 45 min later we placed our order, and surprisingly it was delivered in about 5 minutes. I wish I could say it was worth the wait. The egg rolls were bland, the Japanese curry was dry and flavorless. The octopus balls were nothing too. The salmon bowl was pretty good though. After another long wait we finally got our check. Total 2 hours. We won’t be back.

   The food was amazing!! Service was slow to start, we sat for quite sometime before we were offered anything. Once our waitress did begin our service she was very attentive.

   My wife and I were in town to see our son's performance at CCM, and we wanted a midday meal. For two days after our visit, we were still talking about how good it was! Our biggest regret was not finding Hawkers Alley 4 years ago, since our son is graduating in May. Highly recommend – you won't be disappointed! 😋

    Hawkers was great!! However, they do NOT take reservations. Luckily, the manager was able to accommodate my group and he was the BEST! But writing this so y'all know to not rely on OpenTable for this restaurant. They are first come first serve but it is worth it! Best fried rice I had ever tasted
