Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

  • Sunday Roast

    Multiple dates available
Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

We were so excited to finally try our favorite restaurant who finally made it across the pond. We were sadly disappointed. The restaurant is in a beautiful building still keeping true to its original ambiance. We did dine during lunch so this review is for lunch. We were seated. Offered water. The server was so shaky that he spilled the water everywhere. We think he worked there because the suggestion to come as you are was taken literally by the staff: even if it meant wrinkled clothes. It was off putting to say the least. But maybe the NYC vibe is this? Our order was finally taken. My dining mates choose the halibut (nice thick piece cooked a little inconsistent and has bones) and we ordered two 2 Item Lunch Prixe Fix. I had the ash dusted beets (excellent) and the Fish and Chips (it is one large overbattered piece) it was not anything special. Warning it is served with the hottest tarter sauce ever. It was vile. And sad that was what they served. My mate choose the Caesar Salad (excellent) and the rump roast with a gentlemen’s sauce ( it was tough and just ok) Dessert was Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was good. We tried ordering 2 different wines which they were out of. We ended with a sparkling rose that was pleasant. Service was so so. Staff seemed tired. And I hope not underpaid. Would we go back? No. Instead back to Knightsbridge for our favorite restaurant!

We had an excellent time. The ricotta dumplings and fish and chips were awesome. Our server was knowledgeable and warm and professional. Definitely a repeater.

Food was very average, especially considering the prices. Steak was overcooked and sides were generally lacking flavor. Would not return.

The steak is AMAZING! The buzz of the restaurant is wild, the staff are attentive and helpful. The whole experience was fabulous, 10/10 recommend! It is on the pricier side, but it is absolutely worth the money, one not to be missed!

Took 30 mjns to get our apps, and nearly an hour later, we still didn't have our entrees and had to leave. They kindly did strike those from the check, however . The food we have was delicious. it's just very slow, so if you're not in a rush, I'd definitely recommend it.
