   We live in Vero year round and this is a great place to go in all seasons, though we enjoy it most when our out of state friends have returned to other places. Usually we go as couples but last night it was a guys night out. Our table request was accommodated, service was excellent and the manager made a point of checking in with us. Food is very good, but a limited menu. We are introducing another couple to Heaton’s in mid- March.

   We all got smash burgers which were great! Fried pickle appetizer and bake clams! Our waitress was great!

   We have had good experiences at Heaton in the past, not the last time. Order took extremely long to come. Wait staff was not clear about menu, and basic protocol regarding waiting on customers. This is probably a management problem with inadequate training, rather than an issue with the particular wait staff. One meal had a a piece of fish that was about 2oz, so small that the staff delivering it couldn’t contain their laughter. Manager was consulted twice, eventually getting the meal complete, with meager compensation. To end it all, after water was spilled on the party, I was forced to pay a $54.00 tip!!! This whole experience in bad need of a “ do over”

   Calamari was not fresh and tasted greasy. Main courses nothing to speak of. Menu was limited. Service as usual was great!

   My husband and I had lunch at Heaton’s on our way to Delray Beach. We both had the chopped salad - very fresh lettuce, tomato, and cucumber with egg, bacon and blue cheese. Shannon provided excellent service and the outdoor table overlooking the ocean created a pleasant environment. Highly recommended.

   It's Hit or Miss. Some nights it's good. Some nights horrible. Last night, it was horrible. The tuna nachos were overly soaked in the soy dressing. The bang bang shrimp wasn't crispy with a light dose of sauce when it's at its best. Only 3 lettuce leaves on the plate for wrapping and we were a party of 4. They never give enough. My salad was soaking in dressing and my salmon on the top was 2 inches by 2 inches. My husband had the chicken sandwich and it was too long in the fryer. The others had burgers and said they were average. It's such a great spot but consistency is not their forte.

   Do you like being treated like a french fried potato? If yes, this is the place for you to enjoy the worlds largest French Fry lamp. We've been to Heaton's many times. The service is always 4-5 stars, the view is great and it has a beach hotel casual restaurant vibe. Typically the entire hotel has great ambience and dim mood lighting. We pay the overpriced rates because the food is consistent and the views/sounds of the ocean are amazing. Last night was an atrocity. Temps were in the 70s with a light, warm breeze. For Floridians this is lovely sweater weather for northern visitors, it's beach attire weather. When we arrived on the pool deck we immediately noticed that Heaton's was it up like an operating room with every heater on and the brightest daylight lighting imaginable. But we had a reservation & were hungry so we decided to give it a go knowing we'd need to wsit fir a table elsewhere. The food & cocktails were great (4 stars). The service was great (4 stars). The ambiance was awful. The fry lights were on full blast. The light was so harsh, I wish I had my sunglasses. We made comments to the host & waiter which were ignored. We were red faced & overheating. The terrible lighting and heat ruined the evening. Further, this area of the treasure coast is a nesting area for endangered sea turtles. Beachside lighting is supposed to be red/orange hued because bright yellow/white lights interferes with the turtles ability to navigate. Why can Cobalt get the lighting & heat correct but Heaton's can't?

   Heatons has an excellent dinning area right on the beach and a nice bar area for drinks. I''ve eaten here twice and its 50/50. My wife and I each ordered the hanger steak. Mine was cooked perfect and tasted great. Hers was extremely tough and almost unedible. Not acceptable for a realatively expensive meal. Similar experience last year. Will not be back. Cobalt is a better option, althought its closed now for renovations

    We are residents and we love Heatons.. We are looking forward to Cobalt opening seeing they do have a full dinner menu.
