   We visited this restaurant after it was highly recommended, our waiter started off very nice but forgot to put our food order in and we watched everyone around us that came in after, receive their food. He apologized but it was a long wait. The food did not disappoint.

   Over priced and food not good and was cold. Takes to long to get food. We waited for 45 min to get food after we ordered

   Service was typical for the area, slow and indifferent. The food was edible and could have been warmer. The atmosphere was light and airy and not noisy which was nice for a Sunday afternoon. Wish they had an elevator though. The stairs could be a bit much for more mature folks or people with mobility issues. Maybe there is one and I just didn't see it. $16.00 for a miniature Margarita was overpriced. The avocado toast was balanced and fresh. Crab cake benedict tasty but should have been warmer. Shrimp and grits - I just don't care for it, so it's not fair to judge it. My companions wanted it. The cornbread fell apart and the waitress said it does that all the time, so I guess it's a thing. Overall, a positive experience though. I'd go back and try some other dishes.

   The initial impression was sketchy as the upstairs was pretty open but the host sat us at a table in the center of the flow. We asked for a better space and were told they were all reserved. Upon expressing the same request to the waitress, Isabel kindly moved us to a much preferred location. She got great points for that. I ordered a margarita that came after both the starter and entrees were delivered. That said, the food was plentiful and very good. I think Isabel was slammed, because waiting from finish to check was rather long. Still, getting preferred seating made up for that.

   Fantastic Brunch at Hen Quarter in Alexandria! If you’re looking for a top-notch brunch experience in Old Town Alexandria, Hen Quarter is the place to go! From the warm, inviting atmosphere to the impeccable Southern-inspired cuisine, everything about this spot is outstanding. The Crab Cake Benedict was a standout—perfectly poached eggs atop a flavorful, meaty crab cake with just the right amount of seasoning, all covered in a rich hollandaise sauce. It was fresh, decadent, and absolutely delicious. The French Toast was another highlight—thick, fluffy, and just the right balance of sweet and buttery. It came with a delightful drizzle of syrup and was so good it didn’t even need extra toppings. And of course, we couldn’t leave without trying the Shrimp & Grits, which were pure Southern comfort on a plate. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the grits were creamy and flavorful, making for a dish that was both hearty and satisfying. On top of the amazing food, the service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Can’t wait to go back!

   Service wasn’t the best at my entrance, nor when I was sat with no menu, then brought 1 when there were 2 of us. Server was overwhelmed most of the time, received our entree before our appetizer, just very bad service and warm, not hot food.

   Hen Quarter was a pleasant southern dining experience. I visited during Restaurant Week, the 3-course meal was a great value. The cornbread was a standout, and the catfish and grits were perfectly cooked. The deconstructed banana pudding was a unique and tasty twist on a classic. Overall, Hen Quarter is a great choice for delicious southern comfort food. Be sure to make reservations it does get packed. I will visit again.

    Overall the experience wasn’t poor but there is room for improvement. Our server was friendly but slow, it took 20 mins to get water. On the other hand, the kitchen must’ve been working diligently because the appetizer and entrees came out efficiently. They truly are great in the chicken department. The fried chicken is perfectly seasoned and cooked. The chicken gumbo was a bit underwhelming. The Mac n cheese was pretty good. My gf got the short rib and that was good as well. I wish this place had a dessert menu but alas, they do not. I would go back for brunch instead of dinner because I know the chicken & waffles are immaculate w/ mimosas. 3/5 rating for me!
