we visited this restaurant twice in our weeks holiday in Burford. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The menu is varied and with a good choice. Local beers are on offer as well as a good wine selection.

The food, staff and services provided by them were all excellent. They were great with my little one and the pug. There is just one thing I'd comment on - and it wasn't such a biggie, else I'd have mentioned it to the pub at the time - is that they gave us a room that has stairs that goes down to the cave restaurant in the cellar. I mentioned we were with a 1 year old at the time of booking so they could set up the high chair (which they did), but a toddler and staircase with no gate is a bad bad mix! But if I thought I wasn't able to keep her from trying to rumble down the stairs, I'd have asked to change table, and turns out she behaved anyway :-)

On arrival the staff were very friendly. The restaurant felt cosy but there was a very sad looking Christmas tree next to our table. We had steak and ale pies which were delicious but the mash had obviously been reheated and the vegetables were a little to al dente. My husband had the ribs which he said were delicious. A mixed review I think.

Lovely food, but service was slow! Was not busy as it was a Tuesday evening. But overall, I'm sure we will return!
