Hochi Mama was the God Mother of all aspiring street artists and rappers in the early nineties. An immigrant in the big city, she hosted underground art shows along with rap battles for the rejects; a place where you could just be at home, but with family. The whole crew was always welcome, the more the merrier, and she was well renowned for creating innovative dishes using the original famous dishes from her home country, and plenty of booze, in her spacious and homey warehouse.

This cheeky, vibrant and buzzing Vietnamese Fusion venue is one for your to-do list. Boasting a killer menu and a super cool vibe, this place is known for a cocktail, feast or an intimate date night.

Wonderful food and drinks as always. Literally one of our favourite spots in Melbourne. We had a 6pm booking and were rushed out the door at 7.09pm though. Completely understand the need to turn over tables and we would have been glad to go at 7.30 (believe dinner sittings are 1.5 hours) but this essentially ruined a great night.

We had the stir-fry eggplant and stir-fry tofu. Food was impeccable on both accounts. Really excellent stuff, 10/10. The experience, not so much. Keep reading for a detailed account. 1) Upon making the reservation we were informed that we were allowed a maximum of 90mins at the table. Not the most welcoming and certainly not enough for a relaxed evening of cocktails, entrees, mains, dessert, but fine. 2) Reservation was for 9pm. We got there at 9:01 and were seated soon enough. Friendly and helpful staff. Ordered drinks and went through the menu. Ordered food at around 9:20. At 9:38, before any food had been served, waiter ask us whether we want to put down orders for dessert in advance since the kitchen was about to close. It was impolite and mood-breaking to have our experience rushed. Also how are you expected to know if and what you'll have later before even seeing the mains, let alone eat them. We had no choice but to decline and lower our expectations for the evening before the first bite. 3) Food was served immediately thereafter. Upon seeing the portion size, and about TWO minutes later, at 9:40, I called the waiter back and asked them for a portion of veggie rolls to go along our mains, since we were extra hungry that evening. He politely declined to take our order and said the kitchen was done for the day. He had JUST gone around the room doing last call, AFTER which we were served and were able to make an informed decision, which we did more quickly than we'd wanted to. Added frustration. We wondered whether we'd have to get fast food on the way back home but at least that wouldn't have to be rushed. 4) To add insult to injury, turns out the restaurant was closing at 10pm, meaning they were never able to deliver on the already impolite max stay in the first place. Staff were flipping chairs and cleaning up while we had our last bites, completely burying whatever mood was left. I'm really sorry that we had this experience since the food was so good.

Amazing. Our server (we were at table 21/22) was incredible! She was super accomodating and sweet. So helpful with the menu and just lovely all round.

We gave the score very high because we were so happy with everything. However, we sat outside and it was a beautiful evening . We decided to sit outside because inside seemed quite noisy and with hearing issues we would have struggled . Would recommend this if noise can be an issue for you

The atmosphere and food were excellent; however, the noise levels were quite high. It would be beneficial to review the room acoustics and consider appropriate acoustic treatment to allow background music and conversation to be heard more clearly.
