Did someone say cocktails? Inspired by 1800’s quack-physician, Dr James Morison, who believed in a universal vegetable cure for all ailments based on botanical compounds. At Hokus Pokus, the botanical ‘remedies’ are distilled, and served on the rocks instead. Although they are not claiming any health benefits, the team at the Alchemy Lab are confident the tinctures can still do wonders for your mood.

Hokus Pokus is an ode to the location and heritage behind Kings Cross featuring a fascinating blend of 19th century apothecary and retro-futuristic steampunk engine room. The ceiling ripples with electric dynamos, steam valves, copper pipes and circuits forming the backdrop to a complex stage lighting scenography often seen in theatres, for perfect mood lighting.

Waiter was extremely funny and definitely helped the first date. He was also extremely knowledgeable on the cocktails and even created a custom one to our taste - loved it

Excellent cocktail experience, the staff were fantastic and our drinks were delicious. We really enjoyed our evening and would highly recommend Hokus Pokus.

It took us a little while to find the entrance. Not too busy early Saturday evening. Staff very friendly.

Saturday night: empty with no atmosphere and music you couldn’t dance to (chilled). Cocktails interesting. Decor great. Not a weekend night out venue at all.

Staff were slightly unfriendly but came over to help once they saw drink was finished. I think more money has gone into the atmosphere than the drinks themselves. Was unimpressed with the choice of drinks and even though they seemed fun and interesting they weren’t. The room had lovely decor and the ambience was fabulous!

Best night honestly! Ambience is amazing so mysterious and Smokey but not overwhelming. Service even better so, Christian an absolute credit to the place knowledgable, funny took care of us no end. Can’t wait to go back
