Hooked is a waterfront café, beer garden and restaurant located in Marahau; the gateway to the Abel Tasman National Park. Hooked was opened in 2002 by the Alborn family. Zoe Alborn has managed Hooked since its opening day and remains just as obsessed as she has ever been to delivering a wonderful dining experience for every visitor.

The interior of Hooked has two beach house style dining rooms, both of which are adorned with an impressive collection of seashells, driftwood, crayfish pots and other vintage nautical objects. Even after multiple visits to Hooked, visitors find plenty of interesting pieces still felt to discover.

Local Marahau village residents and visitors to the Abel Tasman National Park converge on Hooked each afternoon to sit, chat, quench thirsts and welcome the stunning sunsets across Tasman Bay.

    Great location with beautiful views. Really friendly welcoming staff. I had the fish & chips which was delicious followed by the sundae which was also lovely. Definitely recommend.

    Service is friendly and welcoming. Limited menu but food is very good. The table of 5 had basket of chips and interesting breads to start and then four burgers and I had slow cooked lamb. I kind expected more seafood on the menu. Their “Old Fashion” cocktail was really good! Moderate pricing as Marahau is a coastal settlement so we expected this. Ambiance is really nice with outdoor area looking over Marahau. Really enjoyed our Christmas Eve at Hooked on Marahau.

    This place was excellent on every level. Waiting staff friendly helpful and polite. Every mouthful of food full of flavour and delicious. Wine excellent and mostly local choices (which we like). They even made me one of the best decaf coffees I’ve had. Lady who owned it was sitting near us and also very helpful. We are only in the village for 2 nights and we are going again tonight - that’s how much we liked it. If you are in town definitely go here and if you are somewhere near make a detour to come.

    Very welcoming fabulous place. Food was delicious and our waitress was very helpful with menu choices - recommend the Kokoda Ceviche as a sharing starter! Very popular so good idea to book.
