New Year’s Eve food service was a disappointment. We were seated 30 mins past our reservation time, at 1015. We ordered the pre-set meals, 1 Bison & 1 Duck, it took over 40 mins for the “Amuse Bouche” stuffed date to arrive, and the rest of the courses just lagged and lagged. Dirty dishes from most courses lingered on our table. We had to asked for our dessert as soon as our main meal arrived so we weren’t trapped in the restaurant until after midnight. It’s New Year’s Eve, who wants to be trapped in a restaurant that is having their tables already set for the next day at midnight? That’s not an enjoyable way to ring in the New Year. And……the food was just ok, good, but not great. Not the experience we were hoping for. It damped the entire reason we were there, to celebrate. No celebration at J Paul’s.

I was there 10 minutes before my reservation and I was told I needed to wait. I waited 25 minutes past my reservation time to be sat. It took an hour to get my appetizer. Then two hours before my entree was served. Also one of the servers was filling up my sister’s water and spilt the water on the table and her. They did not come back to filled her less than half full glass up for an hour. By the time my food was served it had a cast on it as it had been sitting for a while. They were highly under prepared for New Years. They ran out of mashed potatoes so that’s why my food sat waiting for the side to be cooked. My server was barely around. The manager came by twice I had to call him over and ask if my food would be ready soon as I had been wait now two hours to eat. He assured me it was coming and I did not see him again after that. I will say the food was okay. The rigatoni tasted as if it came from a can. To the point that we did not eat it. The carrots were highly over salted we could not eat them. Prices and portions were not equal at all. I will NEVER go back to this restaurant. Okay food but horrible service. I will say the food was underwhelming as well. For the price and wait I was expecting more.

Food was great. Our waiter was attentive. The hostess could have been nicer. Had reservation and she said we needed to wait 10 minutes and would not let us sit in the lounge area even though it was fully open. Lots of tables available.

Restaurant is located in J Casino and hotel. The server was attentive, informed and made recommendations and corrections when our wine tasted watered down. We ordered the hamachi appetizer which was ok in quality and great in presentation. The house salad was drenched in blue cheese and could be shared with three people. The beet salad was tasty and overly salted. The Caesar salad was your classic well prepared salad. The sea bass was buttery and flavorful, the bucatini has a mushroom sauce that is in a gravy consistency and the filet and bison was tender. The ambiance is quiet and while the reviews comment the art, they were nice curated ones and nothing striking. The name of the restaurant has Italian which is deceiving. There weren’t many Italian options. The manager came to our table a few times to ensure we felt welcomed and checked on us. The service was great amd the overall food was just ok.

We stood at the entrance for about five minutes without being greeted. I had the gnocchi and asparagus. The gnocchi was covered in brown mushroom sauce, was too salty, and the gnocchi itself doughy and dense. The asparagus was cooked well but had a white hirseradish sauce I did not like. My partner had the Signature prime rib two ways. It came with a small baked potato that was good, and string beans. Not all the beans were trimmed, which is unforgiveable. The meat was overcooked and not very good. The manager breezed by,asked how was our food and did not wait for an answer. The food was considerably overpriced, especially considering that the quality was low. The server and busser were lively, and excellent. We will not be going back.
