   We came in to have a nice dinner, steak lobster, drinks etc… but after waiting 1 hour and a half for our meal we decided to cancel everything and leave. The drinks and starters were good but service was AWFUL. They wanted us to stay longer to “make it up to us” but food was not even ready! And to be honest , our appetite and mood changed once the waiters started to ignore us because they realized they messed up our order… definitely will not give it a second chance. We paid what was consumed and left. Was not looking for freebies just an awesome dinner. Not the case!

   Food was definitely excellent. Service was okay...slow, due to bartender serving us. Sat outside, so somewhat noisy.

   We love Jax and eat here every time on the island. This time, different. Took forever once we were seated to get service. Once ordered, took forever to get food. Had to ask where the food was, and when could we expect it. When finished meal, took forever to get desert options. Finally ordered. Ate desert. Had to get up and ask someone to get our waiter and our check. Got our check with waitress right there with her handheld tabulator. Asked how much for a tip. I looked at her and told her the service was bad and I would only give her 10 percent. She actually complained and wanted more ... said it was...And I said I didn't want any excuses. We were paying about $100 per person (party of four) and we expected reasonable service. She looked at me ... if looks could kill. I gave her 10%. If my other guests hadn't been there I wouldn't have given her a tip at all. BTW... food was good as always. In all seriousness, I'm not sure I will go back to Jax on next or subsequent trips.

   Great food, as always. Have eaten there for years. Service is also excellent. I recommend Jax to everyone.

   I started with the Tuna Tartare it was very wet and very sour. There was a table next to us that sent steaks back bc they were not cooked correct temperature, I also experienced this. Outside the steak was very burnt (lobster as well) inside still cold and absolutely no flavor. The half tail lobster was more like half of a half. Atmosphere is nice, very cold inside. Best thing was the drink and Mash.

   Food was amazing, steak cooked to perfection. Dessert delicious. All staff were very friendly and attentive. Inside though was way too cold, and our table in the corner had bad lighting

   We always go a few times to JAX when we come to St Maarten, and we come at least twice a year. Everything is usually amazing. This time, however, we were quite disappointed. The evening started with a 7:45pm reservation, we were only seated at our table 8:20pm -- are you serious!? We were sat at the bar until then, saying "it'll be ready in 10 minutes"... Once we sat, we wanted to order the oysters; flown in from France and we absolutely love them. Of course, they had just ran out, what a disappointment! It's the reason we wait until the weekend to eat there. We then asked for the lobster escargots: shock; they have run out. Long story short, very disappointed with the wait, lack of options available as if we had been seated ontime, I'm sure some of those would've still been available. We asked for a reservation for the following Friday, and they are fully booked with only availability after 9pm only on opentable, not even through the restaurant. We said "we simply want 6 oysters, if you can keep 6 for us, we'll take the reservation." They did not agree. All in all, the food was good, as usual. however, we won't go out of our way to go back.

    Food and service all around is very good. The only bad is the noise level. There’s some seating outside if this bothers yuh. If looking for inexpensive, not the place. It’s a steakhouse.
