The Seismic shift from coast to coast, with paired nibbles. Susan Harper, wine expert, co owner of 'Joe's Brasserie' and 'Soil & Vine' leads the Masterclasses supported by Mhairi, these are fun, informative, engaging and you always leave knowing more - even by osmosis! All wines featured in the tasting will be available takeaway at 10% off retail price! The Seismic shift from coast to coast£85pp including nibbles | Starts 7:30pm The USA ranks fourth in terms of worldwide wine production, with a shorter history than its European counterparts, and has many icons in the world of wine. Iconic people such as Thomas Volney Munson and his hybrid rootstock conquered the devastation of Phylloxera in the nineteenth century. Iconic wines made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignons that stay rooted in one's memories for their deliciousness. Iconic wine regions such as the beautiful fairytale Napa Valley, among other stunning wine regions. In this new and exciting era there are outstanding wines from the younger generations of winemakers, maintaining the USA’s visionary leading profile. Factually, 76 large-scale wineries dominate the landscape and form many people's perception of wine from the USA, with over 500,000 cases being produced. 80% of wine comes from California, 17% from Oregon, Washington, and New York, and the remaining percentage from the other 46 states. The pioneering winemakers can be found from coast to coast in America, where 5,851 wineries are making less than 1,000 cases, where diversity and quality is the focus. Every time I delve into USA wines, I find wines that stun me and exciting facts and nuggets of information that make me smile! Did you know that New York pushes boundaries with cool climate winemaking? I tracked down the elusive Riesling from the Finger Lakes with my new slight obsession with Riesling! A Grenache from James Sparks, Matthiasson—I loved all his wines—white wines from Ribolla and Chenin Blanc, and three Pinot Noirs to compare from the icons of the USA. Cabernet Sauvignon derivations from Washington and Napa... An unmissable and seriously yummy line up of 10 wines, plus an aperitif all from iconic producers, leading stars in the American Wine journey! Empty on a sunday lunchtime. Pricing themselves out of the Sunday roast market

Hi Paul, Thanks for your feedback. We were actually really busy on Sunday, the bank holiday weekend, and had a great vibe in the restaurant. I know you were one of our first tables and you had requested a nice quiet spot in the library so hopefully you enjoyed that. Sorry you felt the pricing was not to your liking, we consider it is very competitive, in line with what is charged both up and down the road from us. The roast lamb you had, sustainably farmed organic English lamb which we source from the butcher over the road, supporting local business. Hopefully see you again soon.

Great menu loads of choice and good value. Great wine list although a couple more slightly more reasonably priced options wouldn’t go amiss Always used to be the go-to for reliable weekly visits and good food , now it’s even better than ever …. Well done team …. See you soon.
