About this restaurant

  • Great for scenic views
  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
Welcome to The Jolly Fisherman, Craster. Combining stunning sea views with delicious home cooking and beautifully kept ales, this is a tastefully refurbished pub with tradition and character at its heart. We’ve taken great care to retain the charm of this historic pub with stone flagged floors, low beamed ceilings and comfortable seating. In the winter months, you can relax by one of our roaring open fires and in the summer enjoy the view from one of the most spectacular beer gardens in Northumberland.

Overall very good, only very minor criticism is the bread on the sandwiches, which in my view is a bit thick. Other than that the quality was excellent as was the service and ambience

Our second time here on a visit to Alnwick and explored the surrounding areas. The food here is lovely - I’d recommend the Ploughman’s. Great service, a full bar and views of the sea whilst you eat. Basically everything you want in a seaside pub. It’s not exactly cheap but I would say it’s worth what they charge. I’d go a third time for sure!

Have been here many times for the excellent food, service and of course the views. However today was marred by families allowing their young children to run around the restaurant, stand on chairs and scream so loudly we couldn’t hear ourselves talking. Such a shame, maybe families with children under 4 should be seated in the bar area. We certainly weren’t the only unhappy table. Also the children were running into the path of the waiters with hot food/drinks, surely that’s an accident waiting to happen.

Great staff managed to get two tables booked for different times pushed together. Thank you, this made such a difference. Delicious crab soup and Moules. Fishcakes were tasty. Food came together and very short waiting time. Always a pleasure to visit this amazing pub.

Excellent view from our table as requested. Service was very good with friendly staff. Food, as always, was amazing. Freshly prepared, fresh food that tasted fabulous. With the weather being so good, it was very busy, but worth the wait. Looking forward to next time.

The food was yet again fantastic. Generally the service was good. Unfortunately, the waiter brought us drinks and then didn't come back to take our food order. Waited patiently and asked one of the other serving staff who said they would send somebody over. They didn't. Eventually, after about a 25 minute wait, we ordered at the bar. First issue we have had here and considering how busy the place gets, I'm amazed at how well the whole pub is run. Booking is a must, especially if you have a dog. People were queuing out of the door at one point waiting to get a table as they hadn't booked. Overall a really good meal and time had at The Jolly Fisherman. Would definitely recommend it.
