   It took a minute for us to get water and to be greeted by a waitress. Seems like they might be low on staff.

   We had reservations, and it took over 2 hours to get our food. 2 couples that were seated after us got their food 30 minutes before us. Sad, won't return. Lost neighborhood customers.

   We chose Jordyn’s to support our black own businesses in Hyde Park. Arrived at my 8:15p reservation and wasn’t greeted at all! Finally a young lady approached us and didn’t even have a wait time for us to be seated, she was nonchalant and flat out ignorant. Embarrassing is what it was. We decided to leave and go to 14 Parish where the experience was much better! Different cuisine tho. Looking for great soul food and ambience in Hyde Park?! I would recommend “Virtue”

   We were excited to finally have the chance to eat at Jordyn’s. My boyfriend, my mother and I arrived for our 5:30 reservation and when we walked in, we had to stand in line waiting for the hostess to take ‘to go’ food orders. We stood probably about 10 minutes waiting. When it was our turn, the hostess was very nice and thanked us for our patience. While the restaurant itself isn’t very big, it is decorated nicely. When we arrived at our table, the first thing we noticed was the chairs had very short backs. My mother is 85 years old and I was concerned about her sitting in a chair that she could not lean back in. The chairs sit very low, and the tables are tall, so I felt like a kid in a highchair! I asked for one of the two empty booths, but was told those were for larger parties. Anyway, on to the service. Our server arrived fairly quickly after we were seated, but that was where the quickness ended. It took a LONG time for the food to come out, roughly 30-40 minutes. My boyfriend’s food didn’t come out for another 20 minutes. The saving grace…the food was really good! I had smothered pork chops with sweet potatoes and collard greens, my mother had fried chicken, sweet potatoes and collard greens, my boyfriend had smothered chicken, mac and cheese and broccolini. Everyone enjoyed their food. Be warned, there is 20% gratuity added to parties of TWO or more. Kayla, the food runner, was sweet as pie and kept checking on our food for us. So to sum it up, would we go back again? yes, but we agreed we would try a different time of day. OH, one more thing, it is BYOB, no liquor served! I do recommend this restaurant but I am hopeful they will smooth out the rough edges.

    The food was blah. The lamb chops were fatty. The mash potatoes were to salty the jerk Cornish hens were to spicy, the Mac and cheese was dry, as was the salmon, and the devil eggs were to sweet. According to my friend, the beef short ribs were the best thing on the menu. I don’t know what food they serve the TicTok food critics but that was not the same food I received last night on 2/22/25. I would rate my food experience last night a 4/10 and they also ran out of sides by 5pm and the resturant closing time was 10pm Saturday night!
