   We went for date night in Friday evening and returned Sunday for brunch. Good atmosphere and service and even better food! Get the escargot! We will be returning

   Excellent service! My medium-rare steak came out medium-well. I'm not usually one to complain, but I mentioned it in passing to the waitress and before I knew it I was being offered a comped replacement cooked correctly, which was excellent! Mistakes happen so I appreciate the promptness in correcting it. Turned a disappointing meal into an amazing one and makes me eager to return.

   I took my nephew and his fiancee to Josephine on Dec 7. We were quite excited about it but unfortunately the experience did not live up to the hype. Food - decent but nothing out of the ordinary. Better food at Chez Billy Sud (Georgetown) or Cafe Colline (related restaurant in Arlington) Service - fair to middling. I guess it was Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk and the restaurant had been open since 7am. One could tell because the service was haphazard. In fact, I could overhear the lady in the table next to me complain to the manager about the service. So for example, I ordered a fairly pricey bottle of Bordeaux wine to celebrate. Was was great but (1) not decanted and it should have been; and (2) and no effort to fill our glasses. I had to do it. So, to me, a case of a restaurant not trying too hard because they think they don't have to. Completely unfair on patrons, especially first-time ones. Do not believe I will go back.

   Our brunch was delicious! Great food, expertly made cocktails, and attentive service. The restaurant itself is very pretty, and they decorate beautifully for the holidays. My family had a great time, and we were proud to take them here. The big highlight, though, was the surprise performance by the Kiltie Band of York during our meal. As wonderful as the meal would have been anyway, the live music made it even better. We will come back to Josephine’s every year after the parade, if you keep welcoming the Kiltie Band of York— worth making a tradition. My parents (who are not local) have already planned their next visit for a meal at Josephine. It’s really that good.

   On a very cold evening in Old Town Alexandria, VA we had a delicious dinner and outstanding service at a packed restaurant. Our server Tatianna was especially friendly, welcoming and professional. The building is a beautiful venue, especially during the Holidays. We were seated in a very cramped space, barely adequate for the number of diners in the immediate area. But once we shoe-horned ourselves in to our seats, the limited space did not affect our overall dining experience (except when we had to negotiate our exit).

   We had a delightful meal. The waitress was excellent and the food was delicious!! My friend celebrated her birthday and our waitress made this day special for her with the candle and cookies. Everyone joined in sining happy birthday. I love this restaurant and I will return.
