   The ambience was top notch and we booked because of a good write up in The Argus newspaper. The ambience was very good ‘spot on’ The service was poor . The condiments despite repeated requests were served half way through the meal. For our guests , one who had a ribeye steak (which he thoroughly enjoyed ) his French fries and blue cheese and peppercorn sauce arrived way way after he had started his steak and that was after me asking two waiters if he could have his french fries and sauces all of which come at additional cost. My partner and I had the Sunday roast platter , the carrots were literally black. The beef was not sliced but was in small grisly cubes is how I can best describe it. The meat was very chewy indeed. It’s not a place we’d go back to again . Overpriced, poor quality meal and poor service. Sorry, but it’s a reflection on our experience .

   We were still waiting for our starters 50 minutes after arrival so we just paid for our (expensive) drinks and left. Very disappointed.

   Driven down from London for a special anniversary celebration. Got engaged and we headed down for a recommendation meal. The place was freezing cold. The door was constantly opened and there was no heating on in the restaurant. The poor staff were cold and we moved a few times hoping to get a warmer table but the whole place was cold. We got charged for our starters but not our drinks and left. Such a shame as I felt very upset as it had been arranged for a while

   Food was tasty. It was freezing cold in the restaurant with the door constantly being open and shut, they needed to have a double door. It spoilt the whole experience. The waitress apologised that it was so cold and that they were trying to do something about it long term.

   Decor very nice, staff very friendly and hospitable. The meat was all cooked really well and seasoned well, however, the sides all arrived a little prior and as such were cold. Wanted to try new restaurant but it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. Not enough to go again tho.

   Lovely restaurant at the edge of the south Lanes. We chose a great midweek platter containing sirloin, bravette and lamb chops, with three sides of fries, creamed spinach, Mac n cheese and choice of three sauces. All of the meat was cooked perfectly and was super tasty as were the sides & sauces. Really nice team in there serving and waiting on tables, service was fairly fast and the price's are pretty reasonable for a town centre restaurant 😊

    We were recommended to go to Kindling by a family member and we were not disappointed. Great location just near the Lanes, opposite Quadrophinia Alley, the restaurant had a cosy atmosphere on a cold and wet February Sunday evening. Staff were welcoming and friendly, offering us the choice of two tables. We had some tasty olives and smoked almonds and the goats cheese and balsamic glaze balls which were incredible, followed by the Sunday roast which was delicious and great value too. Highly recommend this little gem in Brighton.
