Opened in 2006 by 8 time James Beard Award Nominee, Chef James Campbell Caruso.
La Boca has the feel of a lively European wine bar, featuring an extensive selection of carefully chosen Spanish wines and Sherries. Chef Caruso's Modern Spanish Cuisine is inspired by the exuberance of Spanish cooking combined with fresh, local ingredients. La Boca has been  called "the most influential restaurant in Santa Fe" by the Pasatiempo Magazine and the New York Times describes the menu as "modern re-inventions of classic Spanish cuisine" Knowledgeable and animated staff graciously guide guests to the perfect wine to complement their meals. La Boca also prides itself on being an ambassador of Spanish sherry culture, transporting its guests to Jerez in the crisp cool flavors of Fino, or the deep fig-essence of a Pedro Ximenez.

Join us every Thursday and Friday night for live music on the Taberna main stage!

Made reservations for 8:45pm and were sat right next to the entertainment who had a really loud speaker. There were many times we could not understand what the other couple we brought with were saying. When we first entered we were holding teas from an outside vendor which had not been a problem the first time we came to the restaurant. Host asked twice to take drinks to throw out even though we made it clear we didn’t want to throw out and we went out of the way to drink outside and put into the car before getting seating. After we sat, it took a while to bring out certain food like bread. The Mixta meat and cheese board did not have enough bread/cracker for a group of four. Overall, the food was delicious but the entertainment and general wait service was less than stellar. I understand that these kinds of places get busy and hectic but it was really embarrassing to take another couple to a place with really expensive food and not a consistent environment.

We always love dining at La Boca. The Taberna room had great music on a Saturday night and was very lively. The food and drink was great, as always, and the service was friendly. The Gambas Aj Ajillo were perfect and flavorful. We also tried the Morcilla Pinxtos for the first time and the blood sausage is fantastic. Other favorites are always the Jamon and the Tacos de la Boca. It was a great night out!

Exceptional dinner at La Boca on Wednesday evening...food was absolutely delicious, and I could not have recommended any adjustments. That evening, we enjoyed the Manchego Frito, Spanish Mushroom Soup, and Paella Classica...all were excellent...delivered to the table fresh and hot. Service was friendly, engaging, not obtrusive...nearly perfect. Even on a chilly Wednesday night, the Marcy Street dining room was packed and energetic bordering on noisy. At times it is difficult to engage in muted conversation, but the crowd was enthusiastic and talkative. Highly recommended!

Set up a request for 4 top on a Sunday night. Showed up and the hostess seated us right away. Soscha was our server and got us acclimated to the small plate way of ordering and also explained any specials while answering our questions about food terms and meanings. We decided to get right into the menu with Estrella Lager, wine from the Duoro and a Jumilla which were all excellent. We started the night with Marcona Almonds/pickle/olives. The Pimenton is a spicy dusting on the almonds…so good with beers. We chose to do round 1 with Fried Manchego w/apricot honey, Artichokes w/goat cheese, and fried pork belly. All were excellent! The baguette w/butter and olive oil served as a springboard into round 2. For round 2, we had grilled shrimp w/ fennel salad, New Mexico flat iron steak w/ caramel sauce…perfect choices for proteins. The big, juicy, flavorful fried chunks of pork were cooked perfectly and served with a semi spicy sauce. Flat Iron NM steak was grilled to a perfect Medium Rare temp—-so good! Finishing off with some fresh raspberry sorbet, vanilla tart with brandied cherries, and a round of hot teas. The sorbet was tart, with perfect consistency. The vanilla tart was a flavorful way to end the meal and the brandied cherries added a bit of acidity to the crunchy and creaminess of the tart. The waitstaff was humming as the night was busy early with diners, then the bar patrons picked up the slack after 830pm. The cute decor and excellent flavors made for a great SFE dinner out. Soscha exhibited the perfect skills of wine education, suggesting the next selection, all wrapped with a great smile and sense of humor. La Boca is definitely a “must do” for SFE diners and wine peeps. Can’t wait—-we will definitely be back for Paella soon!

I had a great birthday experience at La Boca. The food was exceptional, well thought out, and surprisingly delicious. The staff were very helpful, if somewhat distracted by an increasingly heavy crowd. Our waitress was especially good. I have several allergies and the kitchen was very careful with making sure I was protected, while not over reacting with bland food. Overall a wonderful day.
