   Our third visit to La Fontaine didn't disappoint. Service, ambience, food, and wine were superlative. Try their bruscetta with burrata, grilled octopus, and seafood pappardelle.

   La Fontaine always is an elegant and excellent meal. Chef Hassan is an expert at preparation, and the dishes are delicious! This is a true hidden gem on Broadway, and for a night out (special occasion or otherwise), we recommend this place every time!

   Graduation night and very understaffed. Water glasses weren’t filled when it was on a HOT 96degree weather and you have to ask them to refill most times. Service was super slow and had to flag at least 5 times. Such great potential since food was good but service is extremely lacking. There are other new upcoming restaurants in Walnut Creek, would be interesting to find out the longevity of this place.

   When my reservation for four was confirmed by staff, I pointed out that it was my daughter’s birthday and requested a “nice” table. Instead, when we arrived, we were given a table in the middle of the traffic aisles from the kitchen. The MaitreD said he wasn’t told about my request. Within a few minutes, we were given a “nice” table by the front window. Hopes for the evening were revived. However, I ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer and for $20 received a large oblong plate with one sauce on each end and an ice cream-scoop-sized serving of calamari in the middle. Most of the restaurants I’ve been to usually provide a generous serving for less than $20 which can be shared by others. When I received my entree of Beef Wellington, I realized I’d made a mistake. (Who would bake a fresh Wellington for one person?). What I got for $54 was a fairly small piece of medium to well done filet mignon with an over-baked pastry crust, that was dark brown to black on the bottom, and was falling off the meat. Okay, on to dessert. Two of us ordered Profiteroles. What could go wrong here? Well, instead of the 3 Profiteroles per serving shown on the website, we got two. Chocolate sauce was sparse and, guess what, the pastry was overbaked — dark on the sides and almost black on the bottom. What I should have done was send the Wellington and Profiteroles back to the kitchen. I didn’t because, after complaining about our table location, I didn’t want to make a fuss on my daughter’s birthday. Overall, for $500 (including tip), I felt like I’d wasted my money. I don’t mind spending money for a dining experience that’s worth it, but this wasn’t it. On a positive note, the wait staff was friendly and attentive. By the way, I’ve never written a negative restaurant review before.

   The food was excellently prepared - we had the sole, which was delicious, and the tortellini. The service was attentive and not intrusive on our table conversations. We will be coming back.

   Very welcoming, no issues with substituting a side dish, food was delivered in a timely manner (not too fast or slow) the sparkling water they use was the best ive ever had (lol) we had the goat cheese crustini, beet salad, strawberry and mango salad, braised short ribs with polenta and pistachio encrusted lamb chops with truffle mash potatoes. Excellent all around! Oh and the creme brulee with orange rind in it omg!!! We will be back!

   Everything was really good. The octopus was done well. The melon was sweet and juicy. The squid ink pasta was done well. The sauces for the tortellini were tasty. The dessert was just okay( we had the tiramisu and the creme brulee). Overall good vibes and not too noisy inside.

    Food lacked flavor across all three dishes that we tried. Ambience felt like an upscale diner. Staff was nice but will not be back.
