   Service was abysmal. Once we were seated, received our drinks and waited over 10 minutes to place our order. After another delay, salads arrived before appetizer. Entrees were excellent and desserts very good. The meal was ill timed and extremely disappointing. This was a birthday dinner that was spoiled by the poor service. We have been here before and had not experienced any service issues tho other reviews indicated that we weren’t the only ones. Am not sure I will return. For the price of the meal I expected much more.

   We have wanted to try La Foret for some time now but just didn't get there until last night for my wife's birthday. We had a wonderful time, from the greeting at the front lobby all the way through out meal and when we finished. The cocktails kicked off a fun and festive night, they were excellent, as was the service all through our evening. Our appetizer, salads and main course were all amazing. We highly recommend La Foret and will definitely be back.

   Tonight was my Wife’s birthday dinner and it’s become a VERY special occasion, in my opinion, ever since our Baby Boy was born just three days after… little attention vampire. ;) This was our first time experiencing La Forêt, and every detail was exquisite! I ordered the elk, as it came highly recommended, and it is my top recommendation, hands down. My best friend had the veal, and both of our wives had the rib-eye… medium rare plus. Each beef offering was exceptional, as well as all the accompanying sides. (Mashed potatoes; veggies, asparagus, wild rice) None trumps the elk, period. Chef’s kiss! The service and ambience was Goldilocks! What more can I say?! It’s worth every cent; it may be underpriced. Shhhhh Anyway, book your table already .You’re welcome.

   Always a pleasure to dine here for our anniversary and where we were married 23 years ago! Amazing service, and so happy to see old favorites on the menu plus some new delights too.

   We’ve been enjoying La Foret for many years. The new ownership has made wonderful improvements to the interior; the food and staff are as awesome as ever! It’s always great to see the same familiar faces that have been there when John owned it, and are still there now. It tells you a lot about the quality of ownership and management, that’s reflected in the quality of the experience. It’s such a treat to dine there. We love the great cocktails, the wine selection and seriously there’s nothing I’ve ever ordered that wasn’t fabulous. We had escargot, bison steaks, the special Steak Diane and the tournedos of beef, topped off with the grand marnier soufflé. 5+ stars. Highly recommend La Foret.

   A wonderful experience at this iconic, quaint restaurant located in the woodsy vintage section of Almaden . With its warm French decor , a very welcoming ambiance greeted us . We were seated in one of the back parlor rooms with a grand view of their outside dining patio . Our waiter ,Allen, immediately put us at ease with his knowledgeable history not only of the restaurant but also of the history of Almaden , which was a former quicksilver ( mercury) mining location ! All throughout the dinner , Allen was the utmost waiter who guided us through the menu with his description of their original cocktail offerings , to the iconic selection of wild meats and sauces … and his suggestions were spot on !! Both men at the table ordered elk and bison while the women chose the tournedos and rack of lamb ! No disappointment in the choices … savory, cooked to individual tastes and served with appropriate side dishes . Appetizers were varied as well ranging from mushroom soup to beef tartare, scallops meunière and ahi tuna …. everyone delighted with their starters ! Then Allen deftly placed the dessert menus in our hands and began to wax poetic about each selection … even though we were already sated from the wine and delicious dinner , it did not take too much persuasion to coax us toward their souffle and chocolate truffle cake … perfect finishers to a memorable evening ! We definitely recommend dining here and if one gets lucky enough to have Allen as your waiter , you will not forget him nor this restaurant … it is expensive but well worth the price !

    I went to La Fore’t for the first time for my birthday tonight with my hubby and this place is truly a hidden GEM! The food, service and warmth welcome was just exquisite! Shout out to our server Go-Tee ALLEN he recommended all the right things most deff a high five 10 star I would deff go back in a heart beat!!!
