   We dined at La Pizza and Pasta today and had a fantastic experience. The food was delicious, and the service was exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back.

   It took 15 min for a server to come greet us. Then we got shifted to another server. We ordered appetizers and they never came. Then our food came, then our drinks. They didn’t offer to help the mix up or make it better. The server had the worst timing. We were celebrating my daughter and we presented her with a gift and the server came and interrupted several times. Over all the service was terrible. The food was good, but we left hungry since the apps never were put in.

   Those at the reception and the waiters, when they look at a Latino, do not give us the same service as when someone of another race arrives.

   Usually the gluten free pizza is off the charts delicious… but they were definitely off tonight. Pizza arrived first to the table both were at best barely warm and soft. Usually they are crispy with a perfect chew. Then the pastas arrived along with the salads. The pasta was at best warm. Great flavor but just barely warm. Kinda disappointing. We like the place so we’ll go back. And hope it was just an off night.

   The CAL AMARI FRITTI E ZUCCHINE was crispy and tender. Not oily at all. The RAVIOLI DI ZUCCA was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The waiter was attentive but not intrusive. The restaurant was very loud with many crying children (but it serves pizza and is attached to a shopping center so….) and it was freezing at our table. The waiter explained that the shopping center controls the temperature and that the table we were seated at had the vent directly overhead. I definitely will return knowing what the ambiance will be.

   I was originally going to La Pizza & La Pasta with a friend but he bailed on me at the last minute. I figured that I would stay for dinner anyway and was glad that I did. The server, Maria Paula, was very friendly and knowledgeable. She was able to guide me through the menu with ease and offer pro tips along the way that ended up making my dinner that much more enjoyable. I started with the focaccia Blanca which seems like an obvious choice but is so worth it. Sockdollager, I think it gets better every time. The arugula salad was simple but the zesty dressing and savory cheese rounded out an elegance that I had not expected at first glance. I had originally wanted to share some pasta but seeing as how I would be riding solo I went on to treat myself to the steak. Also, considering it was a “treat yo’self” night I went for the shaved truffle on top. While waiting for my entree the hospitality never faltered. I even ventured to order an iced tea while I was waiting which apart from being delicious, is a female owned business from LA. I truly appreciate the thought and care that Eataly takes when deciding what products to carry. The steak was both moist and tender and the truffle added that hint of umami I was looking for. I almost didn’t get dessert but Maria was so enthusiastic about the pistachio panna cotta I had to try it. The mixture of tart fruit and decadent pistachio paired with an iced Americano proved to be the proverbial cherry on top. The perfect ending to what started out as a lonely man’s dinner.

   Food is great. Service is good. Too noisy for my liking though, even though we were taken to a quiet table. Within 10 minutes two families, each with infants were placed on either side of us, the restaurant filled up, and the noise level rose. It is all natural but makes it hard to have a conversation without yelling at our guests.

   Food tastes good but portion sizes were ridiculously small. My wife and I each had a simple pasta dish and water and the bill was >$70.

   We enjoyed a pleasant lunch today. We started with the focaccia bianca. Good, but would have benefited with more rosemary. For entrees, I had the salsicciotta pizza, my wife the pollo alla Milanese, and her mother the Lo spaghetto al pomodoro. The pasta was good, as was my pizza. My wife was disappointed with her chicken. It didn’t look impressive either. We finished with a phenomenal tiramisu. I find it kind of a joke that they advertise this as tableside, considering all they did was remove a plastic wrap from the exterior holding the dessert in place. I don’t think they quite comprehend what tableside preparation means. Nevertheless, it was delicious! Service was adequate. Atmosphere beautifully laid out.
