   Came here to enjoy a date night with my wife. Had reservations for 7:00 p.m. and was told that there was either a bar seat available or community table. This all got worked out thankfully when the manager came up. Sounds like they were short staffed and he did apologize for the inconvenience. However, it then took approximately 1 hour for us to get our glasses of wine. Even longer for the appetizer. We had asked for some bread while we were waiting for the long ticket times only to realize that this was also a charge. We waited 30 minutes just to get our credit card processed which was at 9:00 p.m. Eventually, we had to walk up to the front just to get our check. Three out of four tables around us also had issues with their food. Food was good but due to service, I'm afraid we won't be going back.

   We've eaten at La Riv often, and it now appears that they've become victims of their own success. The place is now almost always packed with patrons, so that their wait staff now appears to be overwhelmed. Up until this most recent experience, service has been excellent, and the wait staff have been uniformly professional and efficient. Maybe--on this particular night--someone didn't show up for work? Whatever the case, our server seemed to be "in the weeds" and every part of the meal slowed way, way down. (Bread we ordered at the start only showed up after dessert!) But, as always, the food quality remains high--thus, the large crowds. And lots of people means lots of noise; this isn't the kind of place to have a quiet & cozy meal. We still love dining here (e.g., the whole Bronzino is amazing) but we're hoping the owners can do something about their staffing problems.

   Despite going the day after Valentine's....the menu was sparse and expensive. We will not be returning.

   La Riv is a Georgetown, Texas treasure. Great food, first class service and atmosphere. The house made pasta is perfect every time. Highly recommended for special occasions and just because you want a good meal.

   Their marinara sauce is fabulous. Coming from an Italian from New York that’s a compliment! The service by both Lauren and Amy was stellar.  the meal did take an hour and a half to arrive at The table. So please plan on that for whenever you plan to dine here, as it is typical to wait a long time for the food. I believe things are made from complete scratch. It’s worth the wait —if you are with good company and don’t mind waiting so long.
